Preface:
I walked up the stairs and stopped before opening the door, to listen. It was quite. Maybe I'd be safe today. Slowly I opened the door. I could smell it. He'd been smoking god knows what again. I glanced around the corner to see him asleep; slowly I walked around to the kitchen, only to turn around with him in my face.
"Piece of shit!" large man said while grabbing a fist full of my hair. "Why are you late?! Just like him! It's your flat she left!" I let out a whimper in pain, Witch he seamed to enjoy, as I was thrown to the floor. My small body screamed in pain. "I'm sorry" was all I get out before I was hit in the stomach, causing blood to come gushing out of my mouth, Then, Luckily, it all went black.
Chapter one:
"Lyle? Lyle are you listening? Lyle!?" a piece of chalk came flying across the room and hit me straight in the forehead. "Sorry what?" I was deep in thought, spacing out, as always. "Do you know the answer?" asked. I was blank. Hell, I didn't even know the question. Say nothing about the answer. Or what we've been studying up to this point. "That's what I thought" continued. I returned to spacing out until the bell rang.
I walked into a small lunch room. Not even half way full, I easily picked out an empty table for my own. No one sits with me. I think it has something to do with my blocking out the world and every thing in it. After claiming my table, I decided it might be good to eat something. Walking up to the counter, I could smell it. The horrid smell of meat loaf. "Lovely" I said out load. Earning me some stares. Maybe I'll skip today. I walked back to my table. MY self-proclaimed table. A boy of about 5'6" at most, but lean, with dirty blonde hair, was sitting there eating an apple. At MY table. What the hell? No one dared to do such a thing. I walked over to him. He stared at me with stunning blue eyes. "Hello" His voice melted the horrible things I was going to say. I stared blankly into his eyes.
"Sorry. Is this your seat?"
"Umm…" Was all that came out.
"Sorry I'll move" He said. And moved to the next chair, only to jump up at the sound of the fire alarm.
Sighing I heard someone say "its just a drill" as I stood up. Isn't it raining today?
Blake looked like he didn't have a clue what was going on.
The teachers began "calmly" lining us up. If there was real fire, would anyone be "calm" enough to line up two by two?
Blake had ended up three rows behind me. Poor kid still looked like he didn't have a clue what was going on.
We "calmly" walked out the door. Why'd it have to rain today?
Chapter one end.
