"Who wants some cake?" Carey asked.
The twins nervously glanced around as if a bomb was about to explode. Zack instantly held an arm over his head, dreading for one of the cakes that was on the ceiling to fall on his him. Their father stood by, waving his hand in the air and pretended he was full.
"It's store brought." Carey said.
"Oh, in that case, I want some!" Zack nodded, joined by his brother.
"Yeah, with ice cream on the side." Kurt added, sheepishly.
Carey shook her head as she walked over to the graduation cake on the table. As she sank the knife into it, she heard Kurt chuckled slyly. She knew what kind of laugh it was.
"Put that down." She demanded.
Startled, Kurt tossed the picture aside and looked away. The twins panicked and let the fake diploma dropped to the floor. Carey thought to herself, boys will always be boys. I should have ripped that picture when I saw it.
A warm hand touched her lower back and Kurt leaned close to her neck. With a faint whisper, he said, "You know, that chick in the bikini got nothing on you."
"That's nice, Kurt." Carey smiled, wryly.
He moved closer to her, placing his hands on her hips, and pressed softly against her back. "You still smell like vanilla."
With a straight look, she mumbled. "It's just the frosting."
"It's good to see you again, Carey." He kissed the side of her neck.
She brushed him off, "Kurt, not in front of them."
Kurt let go, "Right," He turned and looked at his sons who stood idly by the couch. They folded their arms and glared back at him.
"Say, boys, your mom forgot the ice cream." Kurt took out his wallet and handed them each a crispy, new bill. "Why don't you go get it and buy something for yourselves?"
Carey frowned and looked at him. "Kurt, we got-"
"Nuh-uh, go downstairs to the kitchen and tell them it's for us." Kurt guided Zack and Cody toward the door. "Don't come back empty hands."
Zack squinted, "I know what you're doing, Dad…"
"Don't come back for another half hour." Kurt closed the door. He could hear the boys' footsteps descending down the hall.
Carey gave him a smirk, "Kurt, I have two buckets of ice creams in the freezer."
"What can you say? We are growing boys." He chuckled.
"How much did you give to them?"
"Have I told you look great in that dress?"
She sighed, "I see you haven't change."
He pressed his lips against her. Without hesitating, she kissed him back. She recalled the memories they shared together and goose bumps grew on the back of her neck.
"How much?" She asked, out of breath.
"Forty dollars." He replied.
"Oh, that will buy us all night." She held his hand and pulled him into her bedroom. He closed the door behind him.
