Disclaimer: I don't own these characters and I have no money.
The other series I allude to should be fairly obvious.
"So what the hell are we doing out here?" asked an irate Asuka wondering what they were doing in the outskirts of Tokyo-3.
"Well there's an court injunction against me.." started Misato before she was interrupted again by the redhead.
"What drinking and driving, that's actually a law Misato," snarked Asuka.
"No, against me teaching someone to drive in the city," replied Misato, shooting a glare back at the german girl in the back seat.
This unfortunately had the effect of taking her eyes off the road, causing the car to start heading into the shoulder, prompting the boy in the passenger's seat to yell "Misato eyes on the road!"
After Misato regained control of the car Asuka sarcastically chimed "Well I'm sure Ritsuko or whoever we are meeting will lean a lot from you."
"We're not meeting anyone, I'm teaching you two." stated the purple haired Major.
"What, What, What?" screeched Asuka.
"The commander wants you to be able to get to headquarters even if the buses are out and I or anyone else from Nerv isn't with you." replied Misato. A fairly uneventful twenty minutes later, meaning only two near accidents, Misato finally stopped the car and said they were finally there. There meaning the parking lot of a visitors center in the mountains overlooking Tokyo-3.
"Well Asuka do you want to go first?" asked the Major.
"Of course I do, I'll show third here how it's done."
And she did, or at least what's not done. In her defense she was better than Misato, however, considering Pen-Pen was a better driver than the Major that wasn't saying much. After an hour, and much cursing by Asuka about how she could do much better if the car wasn't a stupid manual, it was Shinji's turn.
It was only five minutes into Shinji's turn and Misato was already amazed, Shinji was able to control the car like it was an extension of his body, with no look shifting and even showing a skill she was never able to master, staying within painted lines. Her musings were soon interrupted by a ringing phone, hers.
"Yes, I understand, we are on our way," Misato speaking into the phone.
"Well I'm sorry to cut this short but there is a Angel on its way. ETA one hour, and considering it took us an hour and a half to get up here we have to leave right now. So move over." ordered the Major.
"It's ok Misato" replied Shinji before putting the car into gear and starting down the mountain at a speed both women in the car thought was insane. At the first corner both Misato and Asuka were yelling at him that they were going too fast and that they were going to die. Seemingly in reply Shinji feinted the car to left before pulling hard over to the right and executing a perfect drift.
"Inertia drift," and "My Alpine is really this fast?" were the only things Misato exclaimed before lapsing into stunned silence.
In fact, the car was silent until Shinji pulled out a pack of cigarettes a lighter and lit a cigarette, "Idiot, Moron," yelled Asuka, not out of a concern for Shinji's long team health, but rather for their short term health considering that he had started smoking while in the middle of a drift. Shinji contemplated for a second before placing the lit cigarette on top of the ashtray, placing the pack and lighter back in his pocket, and using one hand guided the car though the drift.
They made it back to headquarters with ten minutes to spare.
"Shinji, who taught you to drive and when did you take up smoking?" asked Misato, getting out of the car.
"Sorry, I must of picked it up from my teacher, he loved to smoke while drifting" replied the now meek looking pilot.
"What was your teacher, a professional race car driver?" asked a still shaken red head.
"No, he made tofu."
A/N: I think I might be using too many commas,o well I like commas, commas are the best punctuation mark ever invented; I'll start using semicolons instead; lol.
