Please note that this is my first Game of Thrones story. I apologise if the characters are OOC. But if you feel they are too much then feel free to say so in your review. :D
Disclaimer: I do not own any characters or make profit from this. This is just a fan using her imagination.
Jon snow was not one to worry about what others thought of him or what he did with his life. After years of being known as Eddard's other child, he learnt to ignore the stares from the people who felt pity for Catelyn having to raise another woman's child.
So when he decided he was going to become a man of the nights watch, he didn't take into consideration how his siblings may react. Rickon was too young to really understand that he may not see his big brother again and Bran was still comatose so Jon would not have to see the hurt on his face, much to his relief even if it did seem harsh to think it.
Arya had cried and hugged Jon begging him to go to Kings Landing with her and Sansa and their father, but Jon had gently declined explaining that the capitol had no place for another bastard. Besides he had told her that Benjen had pulled a lot of strings to get permission to let Jon go, which of course was a lie.
Sansa being Sansa just accepted that he was going, as she only saw him as Jon her bastard half- brother, since understanding what the term meant.
And then there was Robb. Jon sighed as he picked out his warmest furs ready for the wall. He hadn't spoken or even seen Robb since the other boy found out he was leaving. The look Robb gave him was full of hurt, probably because it was Benjen that has told him and not Jon himself.
A knock on his door brought the young man out of his musings, "Enter" he said.
The door opened and Robb entered closing the door behind him and Jon knew that he had come to talk about his leaving. Not wanting to start the awkward conversation he let his brother speak first.
"Nearly packed?" Robb asked casually.
Jon blinked surprised; this was not how he expected Robb to begin. "Yes. Uncle Benjen told me I will not need much, just warm furs for it is much colder at the wall"
"Yes about that Jon," Robb's voice had an edge to it now and Jon knew they had reached the point of Robb's visit. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Jon sighed tiredly, running his hand through his hair, "Because I knew you would try and dissuade me from going"
"Of course I would but I knew you wouldn't listen to my objections, so I came to wish you well, my brother"
Jon smiled softly and embraced his brother tightly, knowing that he wouldn't truly be gone from Winterfell, not as long as Robb thought of him, as he would think of Robb.
