Sam didn't drive directly back to meet with his grandfather and the rest of the Campbells. He stopped by a liquor store and bought a bottle of Jack. Then, he drove to Bobby's place, careful to park the car out of sight. True to his word, Dean showed up shortly after to retrieve Lisa and Ben from the safety of Bobby's house. By then, Sam'd drunk half the bottle.
Once Dean's truck was well down the road, he knocked on Bobby's door. The older man opened the door and smiled at Sam sympathetically.
"He didn't pick me," Sam said softly.
