Remus couldn't concentrate. He was, as usual, sat in the library trying to read through an excruciatingly long book, but Sirius was distracting him by tapping his quill in a quick rhythm upon the table top. Finally, as the tapping increased in speed, Remus snapped his book shut. "That's incredibly annoying, you know," He muttered.

"Well I'm bored," Sirius moaned.

"Why don't you go and find James?" Remus suggested.

"I could do," Sirius agreed, "But we're a couple now, Moony. And couples are supposed to spend every waking minute together." He grinned, a gesture that only enhanced his handsome features.

Remus felt a small flutter in his stomach. He still wasn't used to the idea of them being together, and every time Sirius casually mentioned it he had to get over the butterflies that suddenly invaded his stomach. He quickly went back to his book.

"I hope dinner time comes around quick, I'm starving," Sirius complained.

"Yeah, me too, baby," Remus replied.

Sirius almost fell backwards off his chair, and had to grip the edge of the table to stop himself from doing so. Remus gave a little gasp. Where the hell had that come from? It had slipped so easily, so fluidly from his mouth that he couldn't remember even thinking before saying it. He stared at Sirius, who stared back.

"Moony... Did you just call me baby?" Sirius asked.

"I..." Remus mumbled, "Yes, Pads, I suppose I did."

"You've never called me anything like that before," Sirius said quietly.

"Well it finally shut you up for a few seconds, didn't it?" Remus said lightly, grinning as he again resumed reading, leaving Sirius to sit staring at him in amazement.

I know that "baby" doesn't seem the most likely word for Remus to use, but I thought it sounded cute, so shoot me. Reviews are very much appreciated.
