A/N : Tiny little ficlet that I just had to write. Set in the future of the AU I created in my fic 'Always Remember - I Love You', but this will probably make sense even if you didn't read that. Hope you like it and I hope you all review! :-)

~~The Dreaded Question~~
She'd hoped to get away with not explaining to her daughter until she was older. It was the kind of question that any parent would dread, and Buffy was no exception. How do you explain something so complicated and in depth to a six year old child? Even though Emily was mature for her age, her mother did not know where to begin. There were feelings involved that were not the kind of emotions she wanted her child to be thinking about yet, and she knew Spike would be happy for their little girl to stay little forever, but Emily was growing up and part of her growing and learning was asking questions to know more about the world.
Of course, Emily's world was a little different to most childrens. Her mother and father weren't exactly average and whilst they had never pushed the other side of their lives onto their child, they'd never hidden it either.
But this wasn't an easy question to answer without getting into details about things both Buffy and Spike were a little uncomfortable with. Buffy felt queasy just thinking about shattering her child's innocence completely by revealing the real answer to Emily's question. And so she gave the answer any self-respecting mother would.
"Emily, why don't you go ask your father?"
The little girl gave her mother a quizzical look before nodding her head and running from the kitchen, honey-blonde pigtails swinging around her head as she went.
"Daddy...?" she drew out the word in that questioning little whine that all small children have. With a sigh, Spike put down the newspaper he had been reading onto the coffee table and pulled his little girl up into the armchair with him.
"What's up, pet?" he asked, settling Emily on his lap.
"I asked Mommy a question and she said to come ask you instead" the tiny replica of Buffy smiled, as her mother appeared in the doorway to watch the scene.
"Oh, did she?" Spike smirked as he looked between his daughter and his wife. If 'Mommy' didn't want to answer the question he knew it had to be a killer.
"What was your question, baby?" Spike asked the child on his knee and she was the picture of innocence as the dreaded words spilled from her mouth.
"How are vampires made?"
