A/N: This is going to be my shortest one shot ever!
Beautiful
Teeny Tiny Twilight
I looked towards the door, again. Stupidity of course. Edward had wanted to pick me up for a 'date'. Did you go on dates when you were already engaged? I wasn't exactly sure.
I had never been engaged before.
Truthfully I was naïve on the subject of dating and boy friends and—gulp—fiancés.
I looked at the clock again and grimaced. 8:24 this was probably Edward's form of torture, just letting me watch out the window, feeling the increased tempo of my heart at every head light that went down the street.
In forks there weren't many, so every flash of light seemed—in my mind—more likely to be him.
Ok breath, Edward's coming in six minutes.
That didn't make it any easier to breath.
I looked down and nervously smoothed the red dress I had on. Apparently Alice had nearly fought Edward to the death to get me in another colour rather then blue.
I groaned inwardly at the thought. For the past little while it had been blue. Light blue, dark blue, navy blue, sky blue, peacock blue…I was starting to see blue, and Alice had had enough as well it seems.
If I had to admit it to anyone, I didn't really mind wearing blue…if only because of the way Edward would look at me.
I blushed at the thought.
There was a soft knock at the door and I nearly tripped over my feet in my hast to get to the door. It had only been a couple of hours since I had seen him last but the wait had been enough to feel like days, weeks…years.
When I opened the door I gasped. Edward was dressed in black for our night out, a red tie to go with it. My eyes traveled up to his face, just in time to see his hand reach out to gently take a lock of my hair.
"Amazing," he murmured, "That red makes the red in your hair stand out more." He pretended to sigh with disappointment, "Is there anything you don't wear that looks stunning?"
I wasn't able to speak, not even able to scoff at his remark. I was too caught up in how his skin seemed to glow, the black making his skin stand out. I couldn't help but notice how his usually mused hair was tidy, the red of his tie and the black of the suit making his hair both look darker and lighter. And I defiantly couldn't help but notice how light and beautiful his eyes were, melting and churning with emotion.
I felt a sudden pang of sadness, even now, even with his ring securely on my finger, weighing it down, I couldn't help but think that this was still all just a wonderful dream.
He interpreted my expression wrong though, thinking it had been something he had done. "Bella, you look beautiful." His voice was anxious, trying to make up for something he didn't even do.
I looked down at my left hand; his ring was there, along with his promise.
His promise of forever.
I looked up at him, a smile touching my lips. I brought my left hand up, and placed it against the black fabric right above his still heart. We both watched the light from the porch glimmer off the stone, and I also watched the light glimmer off the heart shaped diamond that hung from my wrist.
"Beautiful." I murmured back, finally looking into the scorching gold of his eyes.
Yes, everything was beautiful. And the most beautiful thing of all…was this sparkling promise on my finger meant he was mine.
And it was beautiful.
