A/N Ok, so this is my very first CSI fic! Please be nice, I've only ever written fiction for Disney shows before. But I've always absolutely adored CSI, and GSr, so please enjoy this... slightly drabble-esque, Sara-centric GSr type... thing I managed to just write. I've been thinking of writing a CSI fic for a long time, so I hope you like it! This is before they get together, by the way :)
Shining Star
Him
He pulls you close
And whispers in your ear
"You are a shining star,"
He wants to say "my"
But he can't
As that possession
Exists only in his head
He doesn't know
He cannot tell
That you wish for him to say "my" as well
You are so close
And yet so far
From becoming who you really are
He realizes that he needs you
But not, it seems,
That you need him too
He thinks, he sighs
That you could never feel the same way
Yet, for him, you gave it all away
A home, a job, a life
All at his request
And he can see the beauty in you
He feels the beat in his chest
You know, you know
That he is the best
He returns your love
But he is so afraid
Of making the wrong choices
Of going out of line
He is so conscious of the problems
That you are willing to push aside
But he cannot see the solutions
Hidden in your eyes
So as he pulls away
From you, his shining star
Your heart aches as you wish
For him to ignore the politics
For him to make the choice
You know, you know
That you could take it all
But he's just so intent
On building up a wall
You're drifting apart
But
He's never far from your heart
Nor you from his
All you desire
Is for this fire
To burn to an end
For him to take you in his arms
And whisper
"I love you, my shining star,"
But what neither of you know
Is that
That future is never far
