Second Choice
She knew it was wrong
What she did to him
Having him be last
Just because of his reputation
Now she has had to pay for it
Her mind jumbled and hungry
Hungry for resolve
To relief herself of the guilt
Guilt of not choosing him
He has told her many times
it's okay
But she sees his eyes
And they say different
They show his pain of the years
The loss he never really got over
And then she sees it
He doesn't want to fight anymore
The baggage of regrets weighing on him
The walls he built up were coming down
Because of her
His fight had been alone
He didn't need or want help
And she had choose him second
Because of judging a book by its cover
Rather than instinct
And now she would see him
Both of them knowing
He was her second choice
