Their Worst Nightmare Yet

Chapter 1:
A Wrong Turn
For what seemed like forever, Wren, Reynold, Lucy, and Everett just sat in one spot, trying to decide which portal might take them home.
In a place like this, voices echoed endlessly through the dark, shadows surrounded the group of young trick-or-treaters, and even more chilling, no winds blew through-
it was a tiny world, tucked away, and locked between time and space. Wren, they're once fearless leader, even seemed unsure of herself. Looking up at the tens of thousands
of wormholes, her expression grew grim and hopeless. "Guys, how can we be sure that ANY of these will take us back home?" she asked, her voice shaking. Lucy turned her gaze
towards Wren and answered, "Wren, Science is also known as a little thing called trial-and-error. My hypothesis is that there is a 0.003% chance of us finding the way home from here."
rather shaken up herself. Reynold nearly jumped from the shocking percentage, and Everett turned toward Lucy slowly. "You m-mean th-that it isn't v-very likely we're g-going to g-get home?"
Everett was unable to mask his own fear, as well. They were all equally quaking in their costumes, sometimes so bad that pieces of candy fell from their bags.
Wren sighed and stepped forward, shaking, and pointed to a random portal. "Alright, then. It sounds a little scary- which is bad coming from me- but if we're to get home, we have to at least
try one of these portals. I pick this one!" she finally sounded a little hopeful, and it seemed to have an effect on the rest of the team, although not much. Reynold looked at his feet, and nodded his head with
a sigh. "I have a bad feeling about this. Worse than that time I ate that spoiled pack of Gummy Ghoulies…" Reynold spoke in a low voice, hoping that Wren had not heard. Something like that
would have started an unwanted fight, anyway. As he finished his sentence and looked up, everyone else was gone and he could see Everett going through the portal. Reynold ran in after him.
When they felt ground beneath their feet, the little group of friends opened their eyes. Their expressions went from confused, to shocked, to completely frightened. On a normal basis, their new
surroundings would quite please them. But under these circumstances, they were all ragged. Tired after helping to restore political order to Repugia, and they just wanted to be done with everything and go
home for a year. Their new surroundings had a very dark appearance overall, with waves of dull ground, spiraling hillocks, twisting black cemetery gates, armies of tombstones, and thousands of jack-o-
lanterns dotting the edges of their line of sight. "Hypothesis: We have stumbled upon a world in which Halloween is an all year round event." Lucy concluded, taking the thoughts
of her friends and laying them out. Everett gulped and said nothing. Reynold stepped up to Wren, both of them finishing each other's sentences. "Well, if it's a WORLD of
Halloween-" Wren scanned the horizon as she spoke, scouting for the nearest town. "Then there must be TONS of candy. At least that's a good thing." Reynold finished for her
before realizing the creepy thing he had just done and then note even caring about it. Wren shuddered, looked at Reynold and said, "You really shouldn't do that. Ever.".
Everett forced a grin in Lucy's direction. "Experiment: Find the nearest town and start knockin'!". This seemed to ease some of her fear, and Lucy energetically agreed.
Hearing the group's unanimous decision to keep moving, Wren led the way across the pumpkin patch, with Reynold, Everett, and Lucy following closely behind.
