The kids finished opening their presents and looked to Sandy and Kirsten to
see what they were exchanging this year.
"So, pops, what'd ya get mom this year?"
Sandy just smiled and looked over to Kirsten.
"I'm gonna share my present with your mother tonight, in private."
Seth's mouth dropped. "Um, I think I just swallowed a little bit of throw up."
"Seth!" Kirsten yelled in her motherly tone. "Get your mind out of the gutter!"
Sandy still sat there with a grin on his face. He couldn't wait until tonight, when him and his wife would finally get some private time. It's been a hectic couple of weeks and they haven't had time to spend together at all. Well, there was that time in the hot tub – but Kirsten's cell phone had to ring. And they did have a date planned, but the case versus her father got in the way. And of course the romantic getaway for two that they won last night, but deep down he knew they will never have the time to take off work and leave those two crazy boys at home by themselves.
"Sandy?
Sandy was still looking off into space, waiting for the hours to pass by until tonight.
"Sandy?"
Sandy came out of his daydream at the sound of his name the second time.
"Oh, sorry."
Ryan went over to the tree and pulled out a small box from underneath. He handed it to Sandy and grinned.
"I thought we weren't doing gifts this year!" Sandy laughed. "You know, Ry, you really didn't have to do this." He opened the box to see a tie with a pin in the middle, with "S.C" engraved on it. A card sat on top and it read, "Thanks for teaching me how to tie mine - Ryan".
"It's something simple, I guess." Ryan just shrugged at Sandy's amazement. The tie was a shiny red and the pin was gold.
"Now isn't this a kodak moment," Seth said from the kitchen. There was a bit of jealous-ness in his voice because all he got for his parents were DVD's, comics and CDs from the Seth Cohen starter pack originally made for Anna and Summer. He continued sipping his coffee.
"Wow, thanks so much Ryan." Sandy put the box back underneath the tree and went into the kitchen to join Seth for a hot cup of coffee. Ryan and Kirsten remained in the living room and Kirsten went to get up and go to the kitchen when Ryan stopped her, "Wait, Kirsten." She stopped and turned around. Ryan gave her a box as well, this one smaller than the one that he gave Sandy.
"What did I say about buying me anything! This Christmas I wanted us to focus on you and Seth, not for you to go around spending money you don't have. Where'd you get the money from any..." She opened the box to find a beautiful pair of gold earrings. She was stunned.
"From money I earned at the Crab Shack. Seriously, don't worry about it." He went into the kitchen and sat down, joking with the other men about the lack of good presents from Seth. Kirsten sat down and put on the earrings. She never in a million years imagined this is how it would be. She really did love Ryan, as her own son. Her mind shifted around to what Sandy had gotten her, and she rejoined the others in the kitchen.
