Soooo I wrote this forever ago and I needed to post it here. It's just another Lockner fic, but if you prefer those, I guess you'll like it. Here goes.

Disclaimer: I own only the idea.

Diane tapped her fingers on the big mahogany desk, taking another sip of her drink. Everyone had gone home long ago, ready to spend time with their families. Little had she known that by waiting a few more minutes, she'd get herself stuck in her office all night. Perfect way to spend Christmas Eve, she thought.

When she first saw a figure pass her door, she did a double take. "Will?"

"Hello?" Came his voice from down the hall. She heard his footsteps getting louder as he backtracked his steps. "Diane? You're still here?"

"Yeah... There's no way out."

"I just discovered that."

She chuckled, looking up at him. "That's what you get for living in Chicago."

"I know, I know." He waved his hand dismissively, flopping down on the sofa.

"Want a drink?" She asked, already pouring a glass of scotch, because she knew the answer. He grabbed it with no delicacy at all.

"Diane, can I ask you a question?"

She was a little surprised, but simply answered, "Yes."

"Why aren't you more eager to spend Christmas with your family, why haven't you called Kurt to come pick you up?"

"All I have left is distant relatives, and I wouldn't put him through that trouble."

"So you're just gonna spend Christmas here?"

"Yes, until the streets are clear." It was true, she really had nobody to spend Christmas with. It made it much easier to stay at the office by herself. "So I guess you can stay here while I work on my case."

"Diane, it's Christmas Eve. Don't be a Scrooge, take a break and we can just talk." He refilled his glass.

She smirked at him and leaned back in her chair. "Alright."

They talked all night: about how they wished to spend their Christmas, what they thought everyone was doing now, and all the Christmas traditions they could start, including this one. They talked about improvements to the office, music, and cases they'd worked on together. They talked until two in the morning, when they eventually fell asleep, will on the couch and Diane on the rug beside him.

She flicked her eyes open. "Will?"

"Hmm?"

"You wanna know the real answer to your question."

"Mhm."

"I'm okay with spending Christmas her because I get to spend it with you."
