The Doctor passes through the gates of the cemetery, to do the one he never wanted to do, say goodbye to Sarah Jane Smith.
Oh sure, he could use the tardis and travel and see her anytime, literally. But it wouldn't change the unavoidable fact: that one day his Sarah Jane would be no more.
The Doctor looks at the grave,
In loving memory of Sarah Jane Smith.
Beloved Mother, friend and adventurer.
The Doctor swallows a lump in his throat, an epitaph he never wanted to read.
He lays down a small bouquet of lilies, We had all the time in the world, but even that wasn't enough, and it was true. For all their numerous adventures, he never expected that illness would claim his dear Sarah Jane.
The Doctor stands and turns to leave, he looks over his shoulder a final time to look at the grave and says,
"Goodbye… My dear Sarah Jane Smith."
Sorry if it's a bit short. This story is written in memory of my Mother and of Elisabeth Sladen. Please read and review and no flames.
