SPOILERS FOR CH 614
She was selfish. She had always been selfish. But that's how she was brought up, so what could she do? Since birth she was fed with a silver spoon, servants at her feet and always tending to her every need. Not until then did she realize how selfish she really was. And how dangerous her selfishness was.
That selfishness got Neji-nissan killed.
He jumped in front of her as she was selfish—she thought for once that she was being selfless by saving her oh-so precious Naruto… how could the idea of Neji jumping in front of her not come to her head? Of course he'd save her. Somewhere in the back of her mind that thought was there. Because he always saved her. People always saved her.
And she wanted for once, to save somebody else. It was a selfish thought. She wanted to be a hero, even if that meant dying.
And that selfish thought got Neji-nissan killed.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks, and falling onto Neji's cold ones. "I'm sorry, Nissan, I'm sorry…."
She vowed to never be selfish again.
