It began in the quiet and lonely. Darkness, everywhere. How could I cope? I ran, blinded and terrored, through the desolate streets of Nowhere. No, there were no streets, were there? Only an empty avenue called Dead to the Ladies. I remember now. It began in the dark and lonely. Scream, scream. She fell. I was sawn. He saw me... I barely escaped the terror. That evil perfection... It began in the midnight and lonely. Hell. Breathe. Quiet. Don't turn back oh he evil is so bad. He saw me. He knew. The lady was dead. He knew. Who was I? I was Next. He came in the quiet and lonely.

Terror walking on two legs. He saw me. Didn't I run? Of course. Didn't he catch me? No, not then. I walked and runned until I could walked and runned no more. He slipped by me, laughing, his non-existent smile clashing with his pale emptiness of a face. His suit was pristine. Was he from a dry-cleaner's? Didn't matter. Saw his face - his no-face. His dead. His voice. "Always watches, no eyes..." It came from within his deadness skin. It grated rustically, like scissors after you scrape them one too many times across your skin. But it was so soft, so playful. So sweet and gentle, like rust before it grasps you in its cold grip of tetanus. Haha. He said I was good with the simile. So close to smile... He laughed. It was kind in its evality. I knew he meant much harm. So he let me go.

But he followed. Followed down the always dark, empty caverns of towering trees and dead deserts. But he said there were no deserts. Only broken moonlight. Sharp moonlight, must have been, he said. It cut his throat and eyes out once. Only nothing left. Just smooth, sharp skin that grated the touch. He was masterful at everything. He might have been Death, but he was not kind, the way Death was when I met him. Death was good and gentle. This evality was kind only in voice. I took him for literally. "Don't look," I said. "Can't watch with no eyes."

The evality laughed. "You walk with no legs. I watch with no eyes. I kill with no weapon. I speak with no voice."

He was literally. Right. We walked down the hallway of broken glass and moonlight. Echoed a much. "Don't like this business," I muttered. "I been here long before. Took 'em long enough to blow it up."

"It's mine now," spoke the evality. "I can do with it as I please. I am Malus. I will tear your heart out so that you will be fed. I will drain your tears so that you may drink."

"It's a fair deal. But what do you want in return?" I think I regretted the question. Or the statement? Which was which.

"Give me your bones. I will use them to litter the Earth with your sorrow, so that in time they shall remember me as you do."

"I don't want to remember you."

"Wise one.' The evality did not know what wise meant.

"You are wise not.' He knew that, he did!

"Forget me." The evality placed a hand to my eyes. I watched as a darkness came out of them and covered them up. And then I saw with no eyes.
