I, Rose, awoke with a sudden chill to my neck and face, shielding myself with a thin, silk blanket. Light streaked through the window, forcing me to open my green-blue eyes. Yawning, I stretched and got out of bed. I noted that it was roughly six in the morning, about an hour before my bus would pick me up. Perhaps it was the fact that I hated mornings that it made me sluggish and tired as I got dressed. I chose a simple outfit for today, slightly ripped jeans and a grey tee-shirt.
By the time I managed to get dressed and put my homework back into my backpack, it was almost ready to leave. I walked downstairs, dragging my backpack behind me, into the kitchen, placing a lone English muffin into the old toaster. Not wanting to wait any longer, I pushed up on the black metal bar, making my breakfast pop up before me. I placed it on a plate, and poured syrup onto it. Yes, you read it right, syrup. Taking a small bite, I threw the rest away, not very hungry. I rushed out of my house, my backpack barely clinging onto my shoulders.
I took my time as I strolled down the street, towards the bus stop. Already waiting down there was one of the most popular boys at school, Leon Wyres, and my best friend, Jessica White.
Jessica was first to notice my arrival, rushing up to me. "Hey Rose! You just got to see video I got on my phone, it's hysterical!" I paid little to no attention to the video, but was instead looking at Leon. Then, he looked back at me, as if staring into my very soul with his deep brown eyes. I blushed ever so slightly, and watched Jessica's phone with no interest.
The bus came to a stop before us, opening wide the doors. I was first to step on, shortly followed by Jessica and Leon. The bus ride was rather boring, for I stayed silent as I listened to my old mp3. Electronic style music blasted through the earpieces, making me flinch and instantly turn it back down. I listened to the comforting music for several minutes and before I knew it, the bus had already arrived at school.
Jessica, who was sitting in the seat across from me, leaned over and nudged me. "Come on Rose!" She stated as she grabbed her backpack.
"Huh?" I mumbled, turning off my mp3 and looking up at her. "Oh yeah, school." Grasping my backpack, I followed her off the bus, shortly after the other students. A light breeze greeted me as we walked into the school, towards our homerooms.
"Man, I hate our bus, we're always late," Jessica complained as we past the office, her voice somewhat depressed.
I nodded, agreeing. "If only the bus driver would bother to keep the speed limit, then we might actually get to socialize before homeroom." I rushed ahead, taking a sharp left down another hallway as Jessica went down the left.
