Dilandau's Tale
Dilandau Albatou sat in his throne, his head perched in the palm of his hands. His
Dragon Slayers had left hours ago. Dilandau didn't have a clue why he was still there.
Probably just to be alone.
You probably wouldn't think so, but he likes having time to himself. No annoying,
overbearing Lord Folken to boss him around. No pesky Dragon Slayers running around like the weaklings he makes them think they are.
Sometimes he wondered how Folken had managed to talk him into this mess. But,
being Folken, he always seemed to come up with another twisted, insane way to make
Dilandau's life completely miserable.
Perhaps that's why he had turned to flames and destruction to comfort him. Or maybe he was just insane.
The punishment started when.... When he was born...
"Dilandau, this is Folken Fanel." Dilandau was sitting there staring at the man in front of him whom had spoke. The man turned to address a teenage boy about 15 years old.
"Folken, this is Dilandau Albatou." The man whispered something in the boys ear and began again. "You will train Dilandau to be a devoted soldier of Ziabach."
Folken looked at the man as if to say, "Him?! Are you crazy?!". Aloud, he said nothing. Just nodded slightly at the 5 year old boy. Then he smiled and told the child to follow him.
When they stopped, it was in a strange room with experiments and test tubes piled high on tables. In the middle of the room there was a giant ball held up by a golden ring on a stand around it.
Folken motioned for him to come closer to him. To the machine. Then, he turned and bent down.
"This is the Fate Alteration Machine. It determines the fate of the person it is told. Or
the future of an empire. This empire. Do you understand Dilandau?"
For a moment Dilandau just looked at him. Then he understood. "So... this machine can change someones future?"
"Yes and no." The older boy replied. "This machine cannot change the future. Only you can change your own future. Remember that. This machine tells you how you can change the future. I am not supposed to do this, but... Would you like me to show you your future?"
Dilandau shook his head and said, "No. Not if you will get in trouble." Then he smiled
at Folken.
Folken had never seen such a mature boy such as Dilandau. Some of the Generals themselves were less mature than this little boy.
"Come on then... Dilly."
"Coming... Terminator."
And that was the beginning of a beautiful *cough cough * friendship.
