They had never talked about it. But sometimes Regina saw Snow's face with her forehead scrunched and fear in her eyes because she was remembering, although she was trying so hard to forget.
Regina averted her eyes and gathered her things to leave. She couldn't stand being there a moment longer. The air felt thick and unbreathable, and she could feel Snow's eyes on her. She never should have let Emma leave the room.
"Regina, wait." The younger woman reached out and took hold of her arm, causing her to flinch. Snow quickly pulled her hand away but it was too late. Memories started to flood Regina's thoughts.
When the queen had disguised herself all those years ago, Snow White had done more than nurse her back to health. Regina remembered the girl reaching down and lightly kissing her, it had been more considerate than passionate, but Regina had kissed her back.
Suddenly they were exploring each other, laying hands on the entirety of one another's bodies, kissing and scratching, clothes being torn off and hands touching the skin underneath. As soon as it happened, thoughts of her and Snow together once again in their kingdom clouded her mind.
The first time Regina saw that look of fear on Snow's face was after her identity was revealed. Snow assumed it was a trick, a ploy to corrupt everyone's idea of the princess so they would turn her over to the queen. Fear was the reason she lied about why Regina wanted her dead.
And there were those times during the curse. Regina finally had control over her, and used it to her advantage. The mayor would call Mary Margaret into her office to discuss something about the teacher's job, but they would end up in bed together before the younger woman left. But it still wasn't enough for Regina because every time Mary Margaret left, she had the same fear on her face. Fear of why the mayor wanted her, and fear of losing her job over it.
Now, Regina looked into her eyes and saw that the same fear petrified her once again but she didn't understand why or what she was afraid of. She had obviously never again tried to ruin Snow's happy ending, ruining her own in the process. She even thought she had a chance with Robin, Snow had even urged them together, undoubtedly to push Regina away from her, but of course it didn't work out.
Regina turned and put her hands on Snow's neck, kissing her and waiting, but Snow stood still with her mouth tightly shut and her arms stuck to her sides.
Regina gathered her things and left.
