Somewhere in the world a young lady and her Piplup stop to rest under an oak tree…

"This looks like a good spot to spend the night. What do you think Piplup?" The girl asked her partner.

"Pip Piplup! '(Let's stop here for the night!)" Piplup agreed. He look up at his trainer and smiled. He knew that if he didn't want to stay there, his trainer, a 12 year old girl with brown, curly hair, would have walked all night looking for a place he would like.

As they laid under the shelter of the oak tree, the girl thought of how far she had come throughout her journey. She was originally from the Sinnoh region, where she lived with her family. She thought about her first day as a trainer and how she chose Piplup as her starter pokémon. How as soon as she saw him, she knew exactly who she wanted to start her journey with. She had started her journey about two months ago. Though she was allowed to start when she was ten, she decided to wait a couple of years before going out on her own. The trainer, Lorelai, and Piplup lived at Lorelai's house for the past two years, and now they were on their journey. She remembered everything about the night before her journey began. How she spent hours checking and rechecking her list to make sure she had everything she wanted to bring with her. How she laid out her outfit, a pair of black pants, her favorite purple shirt, and her sneakers, to make sure she would wear exactly the outfit she wanted on her journey. How she couldn't sleep no matter how hard she tried. Remembering all of this caused her to become tired incredibly fast.

As they drifted off to sleep that night, Lorelai had no idea that her life would never be the same again.

Somewhere nearby in the forest, another young girl is a little tied up, in fact, she has been for the past two weeks...

The girl, Mackenzie, sighed as she leaned against the post she was tied to. A few yards away from her, there was a fire with about eight 14 year olds sitting around it. They discussed plans for the next day, where the nearest Pokemon center was, and what to do with there prisoner.

Mackenzie's ears perked up as she tried to lean closer to hear what they were planning. She could see their leader, Andrew. Andrew was the tallest one out of them all. He had had black hair with fiery red eyes. He walked up to the group to tell them what he decided Mackenzie's fate was going to be.

Andrew cleared his throat, then began to speak. "I, as your leader, have come to a decision about our dear prisoner, Mackenzie's fate. Samuel, please bring her to me."

Samuel, the smallest of the group, though he still towered over Mackenzie, made his way over to the girl and untied the end of the rope binding her from the post she was tied two. He kept the other part of the rope around her neck. That other end of the rope was tied to a rope that held her hands together. He practically dragged her to Andrew.

"Well, dear Mackenzie, are you enjoying your stay with us?" Andrew asked, laughing evilly afterwards. Mackenzie didn't say anything in return, just shot him a glare that would have frozen any sane person in their tracks. Andrew, however, was not a sane person. "Now you're going to ignore me eh? Well ignore this!" Andrew yelled as he slapped Mackenzie across the face. Then he continued, "Where were we? Oh yes! Tomorrow we shall burn our prisoner at the stake!" Everyone applauded, everyone except Mackenzie, who was white as a ghost at the moment.

That night, she didn't sleep. Instead she worried about how she was going to escape a near certain death. Who would take care of her pokémon? Not her parents. She knew what she had to do. Slowly and silently, she reached with her foot for her backpack, which no one bothered to look through. Which she was glad for. When she had the backpack between her legs, she pulled it towards her and unzipped it with her tied hands. Out popped her partner, Seel.

"Seel, you have to listen to me okay?" Mackenzie asked Seel with tears in her eyes.

"Seel-seel. Seel seel seel? '(Okay. What's wrong?)'" Seel could tell something was wrong by the way his trainers blue eyes were wet with tears.

"Tomorrow, Andrew is going to have me burned at the steak. I am going to try to escape, but off I don't, you have to run as fast as you can away from here. Okay? Please don't fight me on this."

"Seel. Seel seel seel seel! '(Okay, I understand. But I am going to miss you!)'" Seel started to cry.

"I am going to miss you too, Seel." Mackenzie said in her soft voice. "But it is for the best. Now I am going to put my backpack back, okay?"

"Seel. '(Okay.)' Seel agreed.

WHen Mackenzie had successfully zipped up the backpack and put it back into its original position, she went to sleep.

As she drifted off to sleep that night, she didn't know that her life would never be the same again.
