I cringed as I heard my mother call out my name for the 20th time that day. It was always "Do this", "Do that", "Come here", "Go there", "Fetch me this". You would think that by the way she was raised that she wouldn't treat me the same. But now she has power over me, unlike when she was a child and her family had power over her. Dad's no help either. He's always off helping some ogre in the woods, or saving some elf. It's not fair! Why should I suffer? Maybe my life would be easier if I just ran away. Maybe Slade will come with me, I could always ask.

I saw Slade walk across the room.

"Hey! Slade!" I called out. Slade stopped and looked at me.

"Oh, hey Anna! What are you doing out here? Didn't your mum want you to fetch her something?" Slade asked as he walked over to where I was and sat down.

"Yeah, she did, but she's going to have to get it herself as I'm not going to fetch her things anymore" I replied. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, after-all, they did bring me into this world.

"It must be really annoying always having to go get her things" Slade remarked.

"Boy doesn't it! You would think after the way she was treated as a child that she would cut me a little slack"

"Hey! Look, nearly every kid in the kingdom would love to be you! I would, but Dad and Mum are really close to your parents so I basically am you in some respect"

"Well, they can come and take my place anytime!"

"Don't say that! You'll make a great queen!"

"Right, like mum and dad would ever hand the crown over to me! You are so lucky Slade! Slannen and Brumhilda are great parents!"

"So are King Charmont and Queen Ella!"

"No they aren't! After what mum was put through as a child with the curse Lucinda Perriweather gave her, you would think that she would do things for herself for a change, not always get me to do them."

"Come on Anna! Just be grateful that you have two normal parents' that are of the same species!"
