It was not a good day for Lyra Soul.
Firstly, the day had been rainy. Very rainy. Growlithe-and-Meowth rainy. Her feet still felt soaked ("you should've worn better shoes," he'd said - the nerve of him).
Then, it had turned out she had forgotten her history homework, and her music books. While she didn't particularly care about history, she was sort of required to pass it, and she wasn't the best at it in the first place.
Music was her favorite class, though, so not being able to play that day only irritated her further.
The final straw was when the Sandslash-head, called Gary by those who somehow managed to hold some modicum of respect for him, decided she would be a good target for the day.
So she punched him.
And then when he had tried to pull them apart, she'd punched him too.
Perhaps she had over-reacted (she had), but in her defense, life had been treating her like crap lately. Of course, that hadn't been a good enough defense for the teachers, and she'd been thrown into the torture chamber known as detention, along with a snarky redhead who was really starting to get on her nerves.
"I try to keep you from getting into trouble, and this is what I get?" he hissed, motioning around them.
He honestly didn't deserve it - after all, he had been trying to break up the fight - but all the teachers had seen was Silver pushing Lyra away, and that Rattata had taken the opportunity to get out of a punishment himself.
Ungrateful bastard. At least he could've tried to keep Silver out of it. It was self-defense, after all. The very thought of the brunette made Lyra's fists clench. If only she could punch the-
"Oi. Pigtails."
She turned her head back to him and glared at the boy sitting in the desk behind her. "What?" she snapped.
"You look like you're about to punch something. You're in detention. So basically, I'm trying to save your sorry hide again. Although look where that got me." He rolled his eyes.
Lyra briefly stuck her tongue out at him before turning back around and glaring at the tan monotony of the desk. She shouldn't act so ungrateful, she knew that. He was always watching her back; she'd probably be a much more common sight in detention due to her impulsive behavior if it weren't for him.
But honestly, being grateful was overrated, and so she opted to ignore her unlikely friend.
She heard a sigh and muttering from behind her, and couldn't help a glance back. He was rubbing his temples, eyes closed and frowning.
Such a sourpuss.
"Lyra Soul, I would suggest you turn around, unless you would like to have another detention."
Lyra quickly snapped forward, mortified, as a snicker passed around the room. Of course, the snort that came from directly behind her was the worst. She slammed her head down onto her arms.
She could just see the smirk on his face.
Hello, Night here with something that is not Like You. ^^"
I recently ran a prompt on my tumblr account (link on my profile, if you wish to check it out) along the lines of: "I can't believe you got us stuck in..." IllusionsOfInsanity requested SoulSilver and detention. This is the extremely short result.
