A/N: I came up with the story after watching a fan-vid that had a clip of that episode where Chakotay was the only person who could talk to theses aliens; you know, the one with the boxing program. Anyway, I hope you enjoy. Please leave a review.

Commander Chakotay walked down the corridor leading to his quarters. He had just finished his shift, and now felt like spending his free time in the holo-deck with his boxing program. He was about to enter his door when someone came from behind him.
"Hey, Chakotay," B'Elanna's familiar voice greeted.
He turned around to face her. "Hey yourself."
"You're off-duty, right?"
"Yes, why?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to get some coffee. We haven't talked in awhile, and I thought it would be nice if we took the time to catch up; you know."
"Well, I was actually going to the holo-deck, but if you'd like to, you can join me."
"What program are you running?"
"Boxing," he answered.
"Sounds like fun. I'll meet you in ten minutes."
"I'll be waiting."

They met back at the holo-deck in the time expected. Chakotay had started the program already in anticipation of B'Elanna's arrival.
"All set?" B'Elanna asked as she approached.
"Ready when you are."
The two entered together, and Chakotay led them to a punching bag.
"Alright, before I set you loose in the ring, I need to teach you how to punch."
She smiled. "I think I already know how to do that."
He smiled back. "You have a point, but this is a little bit different. You don't just go straight on, as you normally do. You tuck under." He demonstrated the movement on the punching bag.
"Like this?" She copied his motions.
"Exactly like that."
"Great. When do we get to go in the ring?" she asked excitedly.
"I just have one question to ask you first."
"What's that?"
"Do you want to go after an easy, simulated opponent, or go against me?"
She pretended to ponder that for a minute.
"You."
"Let's go then."
They walked to the ring. Chakotay held the rope up as B'Elanna climbed under it, then followed her in. He soon began bouncing on his toes.
"Before we began, there are a few things you should remember. One: Keep your eye on the opponent. And two: Protect your face."
"Got it."
Chakotay threw a punch at B'Elanna, which she skillfully dodged with her gloved hand.
"Have you done this before?" he asked.
"Not unless you call man-checking your cousin boxing." She punched back, making Chakotay have to move his head in order to dodge the blow.
"What did he do to deserve that?"
"The question isn't 'what did he do'," she began, "It's what didn't he do to deserve it?"
"Oh, I get it now." He punched at her again.
They continued to throw punches and jabs at each other, until Chakotay decided to try something new. He continuously volleyed punches at her, trying to be random in his placement. B'Elanna quickly caught on, and in between blocking punches, she threw some of her own.
Chakotay thought he was getting the upper hand, but soon found B'Elanna's hand connecting to his face. With a loud smack, he fell to the ground.

Chakotay sat at the edge of the biobed as the Doctor went to get his dermal regenerator.
"Now, Commander, have we learned a lesson today?" the Doctor asked in a smug tone as he ran the device over Chakotay's face.
"Yeah. Never box against B'Elanna."
