Hiroshima, Japan: 1985
The moon was high in the night sky as Blocken Mayer worked diligently on his project. The young man sat comfortably on the hard wooden floor with a clear plastic storage box full of legoes to his right. Before him was his project: an almost complete doll house made of legoes. He had his heart set on finishing it for his pet rats to play in. How he loved his rats! They were his only friends in this cruel world.
Suddenly, there was a tap on the window and Blocken leapt with a start. The sudden noise had surprised him and he turned quickly to gaze out the window at what had caused the tapping. There were no trees near his window and he was on the second story of the house. His terrified eyes focused on the darkness as his lamp dimly lit the room. Outside the window was a floating red demon holding a baby.
Blocken didn't know what to think. He thought he was dreaming and would soon wake up in his little bed cramped in his bedroom in Denmark. But no, the creature peered at him with large eyes, superior eyes like the bullies back home. Blocken blinked, once, twice. It was still there, holding the cute little baby with thick brown hair. The baby looked newborn and as the demon floated back and forth, trying to find an opening in the window, Blocken saw that it was a baby boy.
He stood up and took a deep breath. Tomorrow he would be known as the local hero who saved a baby boy from the fierce night cold, he thought as he walked cautiously towards the window. His heart thumped in his chest as he slid the window open. The demon waited until there was enough space to get in and then it flew in, landing on the bed.
Little did Blocken know that the real demon wasn't the red demon at all, but the baby boy. For this baby was Hao, the Master of Elements and the future Shaman King.
