„Goodbye, Regulus."
The door slammed. It was done. His so-called brother has left, for good.
It was as if all air has left his lungs as he realised that Sirius wasn't coming back. In school, they acted like they hated each other. Hell, they always acted like they hated each other, but they were still brothers.
Turning around and sneaking up to his room, ignoring his parents' astonished faces, he was barely keeping it together. He wanted to scream, he wanted to hit something, or even better-someone.
Sirius, preferably.
But he definitely didn't expect what he did. A tear rolled down his scowling face. Crying wasn't something that he did very often, in fact, he couldn't really remember the last time it happened.
It would be needless to say that Regulus was confused. He hated his brother, but he loved him. He was angry, but still sad. A frustrated groan escaped his mouth as he burried his face in his hands.
What he would give to turn back time... Maybe if he tried to persuade Sirius in staying just a little bit harder... He quickly stopped that train of thoughts. This was definitely not his fault. If Sirius wanted to go and throw away his whole life, it was his problem, not Regulus'.
And he even expected from Regulus to come with him! What an idiot. The younger of the two brothers knew better, he wasn't about to let down his parents, uncles, aunts...
Still, Sirius' words rang out in his head.

„You know what you are, Reg? A coward. Just a bloody coward."

The words angered Regulus. After all, he wasn't the one running away. But deep down, he knew it was true. It was a lot easier to be the obedient son and to stay at home. And that was exactly what he was doing. Sirius was right once again.
In that exact moment, he realised just how pathetic he was, sitting on his bedroom floor, tears on his face, feeling like a mess. And why? Just because some blood-traitor decided that now would be a good time to run away from home and leave his younger brother there, not caring what would happen to him. Pathetic.
Slowly, he got up, trying to smooth down his black hair. He was a Black, and Blacks don't cry. So that was the last time Regulus Black cried in his whole life. And all because of Sirius.
