A/N: Well, this is kind of a ramble about the whole Meredith/McDreamy/Finn triangle, which actually isn't a triangle, when you think about it, unless McDreamy and Finn hook up. Which, just to clarify, I most definitely don't want. I'm just saying. Anyway, enjoy!
Eeny Meeny Miny Mo
"Meredith."
You're turning to walk with Finn, and then,
"Meredith."
And then they're both looking at you.
Silently asking you.
Begging you.
Pick me.
And you're standing there and trying to choose.
And all you can think about is a rhyme from your childhood.
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo.
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it.
It's so bizarre that you almost laugh.
Almost.
But the situation is too serious for laughter.
You look at McDreamy.
He's handsome, and swoon worthy, and, well, dreamy.
And he broke your heart.
You look at Finn.
He's handsome, and scary, and damaged, and he knows you're scary and damaged and he loves you in spite of it.
Or maybe because of it.
And they're both so perfect that you just can't choose.
You stand there for a long time.
Hoping, praying, that one of them will leave.
Give up.
And you won't have to choose.
Because the one that remains will be the one that loves you more.
But they're both still there.
Staring at you.
Questioningly.
Expectantly.
You have to make the choice.
You have to.
You need to.
You can't.
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo.
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it.
They're both so perfect.
There isn't a right choice.
And the thing is; you know you'll end up making the wrong choice.
Because that's what always happens.
You decide on one thing, and then realize that you really want the other.
But by then it's too late.
You've made your decision.
No going back.
You can't let that happen.
This is your only chance.
You have to make the right choice now.
But they're both so right.
And you can't focus.
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo.
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it.
The words keep repeating in your head.
You can't focus.
You can't do anything.
Time is standing still.
It has to be.
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo.
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it.
"What?"
They're both staring at you, and you realize you were saying the words out loud.
Your face turns red.
"Meredith, make a decision."
You can't make a decision.
Can't they see that?
"Meredith, honey, let's go."
You want to go.
But you can't leave McDreamy.
But when you turn towards McDreamy, you realize you can't leave Finn.
"Meredith, just pick one."
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo.
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it.
Something inside of you snaps.
"NO! I CANNOT JUST PICK ONE!"
They both look stunned.
And before either of them can say anything, you turn and walk away.
You'll have to choose eventually.
But not now.
You tell yourself if you wait longer it will be easier.
You know, in the back of your mind, that it's not true.
That the longer you wait, the harder it'll be.
And eventually, if you wait long enough, you'll lose them both.
And then where will you be?
Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo.
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick the very best one and you are it.
