A/N: As much as I wish it weren't true, I don't own Doctor Who. Also, I'm from Canada and the last episode to air over here was "42", so if this contradicts something that is revealed in later episode, sorry but I haven't seen them yet.

"Slow Burn"

Compared to the blistering energy of the sun, the TARDIS felt deathly cold. As cold as it had the day the Doctor watched Gallifrey die. Was that how they had felt? As waves of radiation scorched his homeworld, had his family and friends experienced the same, slow, burn he had? Knowledge of their deaths was bad enough. Knowing what they went through somehow made it worse.

"How're you doing?"

Grinning quickly at Martha, he once again buried those thoughts.

"Well, whadoya say? Ice skating of the mineral lakes of Kour-Haj, fancy it?"

The physical burning was gone. The emotional continued.
