Goku stared above at the ceiling of his house as he laid on the bed with
his hand underneath his head. Outside, the rain spattered across the roof,
the ferocity of the drops making it seem like it was pebbles that fell
instead of the wet, sloppy drops of water.
Goku's eyes flew to rest momentarily on the still figure next to him. Chichi was soundly asleep, breathing softly as her hair laid spread across her pillow. The deep raven color was intense, standing out even though the room was dark. She was beautiful, a stunning sight that always made Goku's heart warm with love that this beautiful creature was his. Not that she belonged to anyone; Kami help who'd think so.
His gaze lingered for a moment, and then turned back to the dark of the ceiling. Sleep had eluded him for the moment and with no dreams to accopany him, his thoughts ran. To his family, his friends, the threat that would be upon them in no more then three years. He had chosen, this time, to spend more time with those around him and less time training. It was a decision he felt he needed to make; he had spent too much time away from those he cared already.
He would take Chichi and Gohan to the little hill where they had gone when Gohan was just a little toddler. Maybe spend sometime alone with Chichi. Kami knows, she deserves every moment of happiness he could spare.
His wife, somtimes amazed him. It seemed, no matter what he did, from the most riduculous things to the topic of death, she stayed by him. She gave him a child; one he loved beyond everything and she gave him her heart. He knew, everytime he left, she worried and paced, for fear he might not return in one piece. For Goku, everytime he came back was a little victory; he had proven, with every return, that he would never leave her; not for any longer then needed anyways.
His gaze kept falling on Chichi, who was now facing him on her side. Yes, she loved him, no matter how much she yelled, how much he worried her, how much he defied her, she loved him. Maybe more then he deserved, but she did. With a content sigh, Goku knew that no matter what, he would love her too, through everything, life or death. It was a warm thought, giving Goku a sense of completion, that they would be together no matter what; a whole that would never be apart.
How lucky he was, how lucky he was more so than he thought before.
