SKRIM
A SHORT TALL STORY BY HANNA KNUDSEN
So I am walking down the muddy track and I look up, in front of me is this huge un-climbable mountain. I shrug; I need to get to the top anyway.
So I take a step forwards.
Suddenly music starts playing in my ears, it goes, "DUM DUM DUM." And I just stand there like, oh great.
I looked behind myself and there it is, the most terrible of enemies, it's disgusting brown hide covered in dirt, screeching scraping noises haunt my ears. A skeever.
I shudder, but quickly I grab my swords out and cut it down, decapitating it and quickly grabbing its hide.
I turn around, staring up at the mountain again and start forwards, my ebony armour heavy on my shoulders.
Slowly I traversed the area in front of me, until I get tired, so I stop and grab out an antler, swallowing it whole I run forwards, fuelled by its power. Up I go, eating antler after antler as I went.
But as I run out of antler's I hear the foreboding music of another fight.
Turning around I look into the many fearsome disgusting eyes of the Frost Troll.
I draw my swords but its too late. The troll hits me and suddenly I am falling down the mountain, all of my progress lost. And I die.
Soon I respawn, ready to try to climb the mountain again. As I reach the same spot where I died last I am ready. Drawing my swords I cut into its ugly face, my swords moving faster than the speed of light. It dies and I shouted in victory.
But that was a mistake.
There is a huge roar to my side and the most foreboding music starts to play, "DRAGONBORN DRAGONBORN DUM DUM DUM."
I sigh inwardly. Looking up in the sky I see it, a Revered Dragon, its golden scales bright against the mountains bleak white.
It swoops on me, and the disaster which I beheld before with the frost troll replays, I fall down and die.
The mountain was no place to take hits.
Luckily I had saved my progress so when I respawned I had defeated the frost troll. This time I did not Fus Roh Dah at the sky. Instead I stealthily creep up the mountain, careful to not let the sleeping dragon see me I sneak beside it, going for the high ground where I find this magnificent wall.
Ancient languages were painted all over it, but in front of me was the one I was looking for, it glowed and music started thumming in my head, "HUH HUH HUH. HUH HUH HUH." It was a word wall.
So walking forwards I slammed my body into it, still crouching and not making a noise I pressed my face into it, devouring my eyes on the words which I couldn't understand.
"WORD LEARNED! BEND WILL" What the hell was this? How lucky.
Sighing I turn around, already unlocking the word even though I did not understand what it did.
There was the music, "DRAGONBORN DRAGONBORN DUM DUM DUM." Boss fight.
I quickly use my DRAGON REND on the dragon as it slowly woke up then, not wasting any time I lurch forwards slicing my blades into the dragon, it made a "CHAHUM" noise and flinched, but didn't take much damage. It was one tough dragon.
Quickly I ran around it eating a hunk of meat as I went, and drinking a swig of red wine. The dragon turned with me, then it took off, huge wings buffeting me. I turn to fend off its powerful breath attack with my shield, and turn to run, but stopped, I was too slow, something was weighing me down. I had accidental went over my weight limit when I had picked up a wooden bowl.
Cursing with frustration I chuck out several useless swords, food and potions, and a couple of dragon bones and scales.
Then I turn around and, wanting to find out what it did, used the BEND WILL shout.
The dragon practically stopped mid flight. The boss music went away.
The dragon landed.
"How can I serve you Dovahkin?" It asked.
I hopped on it.
I liked this shout.
