The rock comes crashing down on my skull. I hear the crack of solid bone. I go blind instantly. I feel myself drop like a rag doll. I hear Thresh and Katniss exchange a few words and head off. Cato comes running to my side. He holds my hand and kisses it lightly. He says,"I'm sorry" Several times. As he is saying this I can feel my soul escaping from my body. I hear Cato say,"I love you" at the same moment I feel a drop of water land on my face. I begin to feel multiple drops of water. I am sure it is his tears. I never thought I would ever get to witness him cry, not that I can see it, but I know it. He has always been stone cold when it comes to his feelings. Now that I am going, he is letting them out in the same way I am leaving life. I want to tell him I love him, but I don't have the strength to do it. Eventually the pain is gone, but I can still feel him holding my hand and my hearing is still intact. I then feel him turn me on my back to give me one last kiss. He kisses me with such passion, that it hurts me to leave him like this. I begin to see a bright white light. I feel him let go of my hand as I grab a rope that has landed next to me. I assume it will pull me to heaven. Before I leave my body, something tells me to say my final words. I have just enough strength to say,"I love you too Cato. I always have, and always will." I then feel the rope start to separate me from my body. Just before I have left, I hear him begging me to stay with him. The last thing I hear is "Clove, I need you, like a heart needs to beat. I will be with you again. Wait for me." After that, I can't hear a thing.
