An Addition She'd Never Wanted
She was supposed to be able to just forget about that chapter in her life: about the mother who didn't love her at all – and certainly not enough to notice all those tell-tale signs or even listen – and that man who called himself her stepfather but loved her the wrong way…if that could even be called love at all…
But now she had Kohta and Yuka and Nyu and Nana as well. Her new family, who'd adopted her and taken her away from that home forever. She could begin to heal, she thought. Away from those bad memories, that bad life. Away from the harsh streets as well, that might have swallowed her whole if she hadn't been lucky enough to find such kind people and a kind new home.
And that's how it was, until she realised she'd missed her period and was starting to feel a little ill at random times. She knew immediately what it was, despite being barely fourteen. She knew what it was, and it would drag all those things she thought she'd left behind right back.
It would ruin that shred of hope she'd thought she'd gained: that healing she'd thought was finally becoming a reality. She wanted it out of her. She wanted it to be a lie – but something held that wild insane feeling back. It wasn't that baby's fault, after all. It wasn't its fault its father was such a horrible person, that its mother was such a dirty and weak-minded one.
She collapsed in a heap and hugged herself at the realisation, just crying as much as her body could take, as much as she dared in a home she so longed for but still didn't belong to her…
But it did belong to her, and even if she muffled all those tears behind a pillow her new family would see the tear stains and ask and help her.
