It was October and the SVU officers at the 16th precinct had been working overtime with cases for several weeks. Recently, Stone decided to transfer departments after the death of his sister, so the officers had several temporary ADAs, while the department was searching for a new permanent one. After One Friday, Amanda Rollins made an interjection.
"You know what," she said. "I've been working overtime for weeks. We don't have any big cases today. Both of the nannies are working late tonight. Let's do something after work."
"What were you thinking Amanda?" asked Sonny Carisi.
"Well," said Amanda. "You know that bar in the Village, Tammy's? They have karaoke every Friday. I love karaoke and have always wanted to go down there and sing."
"No way," said Fin Tutuola. "I cannot sing to save my life from a shootout."
"Come on Fin," said Olivia Benson. "It'll be fun. You don't have to sing by yourself. I'll do a duet. Tammy's also has amazing Margaritas."
"Fine," said Fin smiling. "But no solo acts from me."
"I'm in," said Sonny.
"Great," said Amanda. "Let's take the subway downtown after work."
At five o' clock, Olivia, Fin, Amanda and Sonny left work and took the subway to the Village and walked to Tammy's.
Because of the karaoke, the bar was already crowded but the detectives were able to get a table to themselves. They ordered drinks and food and chatted about the recent cases.
At seven o' clock, a woman came up to the bar stage. "Okay everyone," she said. "Everyone who wants to sing please fill out a card. Write your name and the song you want to sing down."
Amanda immediately filled hers out. Carisi and Fin soon followed. Olivia filled hers out last.
"Okay," said the announcer. "So first up we have Amanda singing Tattoo by Jordin Sparks! Amanda get up here!"
Amanda stood up and walked up on stage. The music began and, smiling at her fellow detectives, she began to sing.
No matter what you say about love,
I keep coming back for more,
Keep my hand in the fire,
Sooner or later, I get what I'm asking for
No matter what you say about life,
I learn every time I bleed
The truth is a stranger,
Soul is in danger
I gotta let my spirit be free to
Admit that I'm wrong and then change my mind
Sorry, but I have to move on and leave you behind
I can't waste time so give it a moment
I realize nothing's broken
No need to worry bout everything I've done
Live every second like you was my last one
Don't look back got a new direction
I loved you once
Needed protection
You're still a part of everything I do
You're on my heart just like a tattoo
Just like a tattoo
I'll always have you
(I'll always have you)
(I'll always have you)
I'm sick of playing all of these games
It's not about taking sides
When I looked in the mirror,
It didn't deliver
It hurt enough to think that I could stop
Admit that I'm wrong and then change my mind
Sorry, but I gotta be strong and leave you behind
I can't waste time so give it a moment
I realize nothing's broken
No need to worry bout everything I've done
Live every second like it was my last one
Don't look back got a new direction
I loved you once
Needed protection
You're still apart of everything I do
You're on my heart just like a tattoo
Just like a tattoo
I'll always have you
(I'll always have you)
(I'll always have you)
If I live every moment,
Won't change any moment,
There's still apart of me in you
I will never regret you
Still the memory of you
Marks everything I do...
Ooohh...
I can't waste time so give it a moment
I realize nothing's broken
No need to worry bout everything I've done
Live every second like it was my last one
Don't look back got a new direction
I loved you once
Needed protection
You're still a part of everything I do
You're in my heart just like a tattoo
I can't waste time so give it a moment
I realize nothing's broken
No need to worry bout everything I've done
Live every second like it was my last one
Don't look back got a new direction
I loved you once
Needed protection
You're still a part of everything I do
You're in my heart just like a tattoo
Just like a tattoo
I'll always have you
Amanda nailed every note of that song and after she finished, the whole bar applauded. She took a bow and went back to her table.
"That was great Amanda," said Sonny.
"Thanks," said Amanda. "I love that song. I think it perfectly describes my love life," she said smiling.
Afterwards, a few more people went up and sang. Then the announcer said "Next up is Sonny singing…"
