They slowed down two blocks away from the store. They'd already devoured the first bag, and were making a sizable dent in the second. Neither paid any attention to the sound of sirens in the distance.
As Dean occupied their mouth with peanut m&ms, Jason occupied his mind.

Dean choked momentarily on a blue m&m before answering. Yeah. Why?

Red filled Dean's vision and it took a moment to realize the high-pitched shrieks of "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" were aloud, not just in their mind.
Shh. Dean relaxed the painful grip on Jason's mind. It's okay. Don't be scared. He could hear Jason whimpering softly. I'm sorry. I won't do that again.
