A/N: This is a roughly based on the Shrine AU with a few different changes.

-Sakuya went to St. Pigeonations as a freshman, and the class of 2-3 were all together for their freshman year.
-Nageki is the same age however he was homeschooled by Hitori and is going to be a sophomore.
-Ryuuji never died, and Shuu still goes by Isa.
-The Heartful House incident did still happen (unclear if this is part of the Shrine AU or not) however Nageki and Hitori were out when it happened, only witnessing the aftermath. (Nageki didn't kill the humans with charon)

Due to these changes, there are also some changes in character.

-Sakuya has secretly grown to like his classmates already, however he rarely shows it. He has yet to learn the truth from Yuuya.
-Ryuuji began to be more present in Ryouta's life. However, as much as he loves his son, he still gets caught up in work more often than not. He and Isa often spend nights at the Medical Center, and are very close to each other.
-As a result of Ryuuji not dying, Isa is somewhat more emotionally stable and humane. (birdmane?) He's still very suspicious and quite often up to no good, however he's not as murderous and terrifying as he is in the actual games.
-Hiyoko was enrolled with the same rules as in the games; Isa and Ryuuji are fascinated with her and believe that it's possible she could save the human race. This is a last straw type deal for the Hawk Party, who will begin to get serious if she fails to get remain close to the birds.
-Hitori is very caring and overprotective of Nageki after the incident, as he's the last remaining family member in Hitori's life.
-Nageki still has a very weak immune system, however he doesn't have the charon virus.

One last thing: the birds are still canonically birds. However, for the ease of writing and following along, it's more enjoyable in my opinion if we enable ICPSS. Sorry for the long list of little AU changes, but without further ado, let's go!

"Nageki... it's cold out! Stay bundled up! You can't leave in just that..."

"Hitori, I'll be fine. I'm not a kid anymore. Please stop worrying."

"What if you get sick? What if you-" Hitori opened his eyes and saw the door wide open, and let out a sigh. Please stay safe, Nageki. "Oh my, it's getting late. I should be leaving too."

"What is this?! Is this how the Japanese treat education? A no-show teacher and not even a substitute? What a mockery!" A teenage boy grumbled, turning his head to stare towards the teacher's desk; his blue eyes cold enough to make anyone anxious. His hands went to his light blue hair, as he slid them down

"Geez, Sakuya! Calm down, maybe he's just late?" A short teenage girl walked over to his desk, playfully patting his head.

"Don't touch me you mongrel!" He grabbed the girl by her short brown hair, and give it a light tug.

"Ow! Sakuya, that hurts!"

"Or... we're just really early..." A pair of beautiful red eyes anxiously flew towards the clock, double checking the time. "...oops."

"What do you mean, oops!? It has to have been an hour by now!" Sakuya stood up, and stomped to the clock. "Eight... thirty...? We still have fifteen minutes? Nonsense!"

"Coo?" (How long has Sakuya been here?)

Sakuya let out a chuckle. "As a Le Bel, I must always arrive early. The earlier, the better. Naturally, I arrived a couple hours ago." He flashed a cocky smile, his ego once again rising.

Looks like he hasn't changed over the summer!

The students talked among themselves for another ten minutes, until a tall young man with bright blonde hair came into the door. Besides him was another teen with light green hair, a little bit taller than the girl. "Hello, class! I'm Kazuaki Nanaki, and I'll be your teacher this year. This is my first year actually teaching, however I have helped out in the past. I hope that this can be a good year! Now, I'd like you all to meet Nageki Fujishiro. He's your new classmate, and this is his first year here." The boy was looking down to the ground, however he tilted his head up and glanced around the class. He gave a short wave to everyone, and made eye contact with the girl. He quickly glanced down. "Please say hello and introduce yourselves, everyone! I'm going to go photocopy some papers, and when I come back then class will officially begin." Kazuaki stepped out of the room, and fell back against the wall. He let out a sigh, and wiped some sweat from his face. "Keep it together Kazuaki, you can do this. It won't be too bad."

"...are you talking to yourself?" Kazuaki jumped and fell to the ground, blushing like mad.

"O-oh! Hello, N-nageki! What? Noooo.. I would... never..." He stuttered and began to just make some noises barely resembling words.

"You left this folder on your deck, and it says 'remember to photocopy.' Here you go, Mr. Nanaki."

"T-thank you! I'll be back!" Kauzaki ran away, tears forming in his eyes. Maybe he wasn't ready. This was going to be one hell of a year.

A/N: Thank you for reading! I hope all the AU stuff isn't too confusing or anything, and I hope you enjoyed! This is a pretty short chapter, however I hope to begin making them longer as it goes and more stuff actually happens. I also hope to update every 2 or 3 days, however I may update sooner if I'm in more of a writing mood. Seeya next chapter!

(shoutout to my friend for always being really supportive of my writing and enjoying it, I really appreciate it)
