Ok, so it's my first time writing a Heroes fanfic (or any for that matter) so any and all constructive feedback would be heaps welcome. Obviously, this isn't the entire fic, just a bit of background on my OC (please tell me if you find her too 2D in the future)
I don't own Heroes (obviously).

Prologue
July 1st 1989
Somewhere off Long Beach, California, USA
The seagulls screeched above the blue expanse of the ocean. On the deck of the yacht the three young couples laughed around the barbeque as they boasted about their children's latest achievements. Mr Canneberge held his young daughter's shoulders firmly as he explained to the rest of the party her triumphs in gymnastics that year, she had placed first and third in the state of California for the balance beam and floor routine, respectively. His wife smiled as she held their second child.
The Woolsly couple meanwhile bragged about their son's most recent achievements in swimming, at only age five he had accelerated far beyond anyone's expectations, competing at the levels intended for boys three to four years older than him.
The Edgewood's were just about to tell the party about their success in toilet training when a small splash noise was heard from the edge of the boat. Mrs Edgewood raised her eyebrows and ran over, only to spot her two year old daughter slowly sinking into the depths of the ocean. She let out a small wail, screaming for her husband to fish her daughter out of the water. However, before her husband could reach the edge, another body splashed into the water and dived down, frantically swimming after the toddler.
All the husbands stared off into the water removing any baggy clothing while the women fretted in the background. However, just as Mr Edgewood made his way into the water to save his small girl, two heads emerged from the water. One belonging to his small Elizabeth, the other to the young Alex Woolsly.
They had been under the water for a little under three minutes, and due to his extreme gratitude as well as his role as a journalist, Mr Edgewood only saw it fit that it ended up in the LA Times, even if it were just a side column.
