A/N: finally we can get started, sorry about the hold up. Lets get on with it, eh? Im gonna do the reapings for each district for an introduction, then decide on three or four characters I like the most for the main POVs.

District 1

Nimara Portmac's POV

I rarely get nightmares, and when I do, I don't remember them. But the night before every reaping day, I get nightmares that stay vivid in my mind. I don't know why, I shouldn't be scared. I am from District 1, I train in the academy. I would have a good chance in the arena. I don't know why I receive these nightmares of being brutally murdered in an arena full of kid's, they just happen.

I try and forget about the night tremor and tug at the bow on my dress. I bite my lip and think about the 4 slips of paper with my name on in the large glass bowl that lies on a wooden stage in front of the Hall Of Justice. I'm not weak, but I'd rather carry on with my easy, tangle-free life, then be faced with a possible death. The Hunger Games are sick, I have to admit it.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time to select one courageous man and woman to compete in the 73rd annual Hunger Games. As usual, ladies first."

Isla, my 12 year old sister slips her hand into mine. I managed to reason with the Peacekeepers and get her to stand with me instead of her age range. She is scared, I can tell. She hasn't been at the academy long.

"Isla Portmac."

Isla starts to wail, deafeningly. My mother looks at me with a death glare, her eyes screaming "VOLUNTEER."

"I volunteer as tribute, for my sister." I shout, loud enough for the escort on the stage to hear. The Peacekeepers drag me to the stage and Kayla introduces me to the crowd.

"Nimara Portmac, everybody." She announces. "Now for the boys."

Tears threaten in my eyes as I watch my mother and father embrace Isla and nod towards me. I've always been the underdog of the family, and my parents relied on me to fend for Isla. They had drilled into me to volunteer for her if she was ever reaped. She was their princess.

"Tomas Jeafoory."

As usual, a trainee from the academy of the age 18 volunteers for the boy. Derrick, his name is. He's built like a natural fighter, with large hands and feet and scars across his skin from training. I can't help but notice the large scar on his jaw line, it looks menacing, but gives him the edge of threat that he needs for the other tributes.

We shake hands, traditionally, his hand grips tight onto mine and he looks into my eyes. His blue with an edge of fire, like a battle between two elements swimming in them.

"Alliance? We are Careers anyway." He laughs in a whispered tone. I nod.

He seems friendly but I can't trust him. I can't trust anyone if they're going to kill me. He's big and tough. He could stab me in my sleep for all I know.

Wahahay, first chapter! So how do you like Nimara and Derrick? The careers from 1? Thanks to CasssusFettt and Nimara for the tributes, district 2 reaping shalla be up soon. Stay tuned you darn tributes.
