AN: They're not mine - I'm just playing with them.
Sometimes, it only takes a moment for your life to turn upside down. That's what happened to me. We were fighting the Heartless, Leon, Yuffie, Aerith and me, when one of them lunged towards Leon's back. I threw myself across the battleground to kill it, and that's when I knew. I knew I'd do anything to save him, even if it meant risking my own life.
That's when I realised I'd fallen in love with him. Not that I could tell him, obviously. He was still pining for his lost love Rinoa, who'd died just before his world was swallowed by darkness and he ended up here in Twilight Town.
Aerith knows. But, I think Aerith somehow knows everything. Or so it seems. She thinks I should tell him, because otherwise I'll never know how he feels. Yeah, right. He's not the kind who likes guys. Then again, I didn't think I was either.
Now I'm starting to sound like Aerith, and that's bad.
"You know, Cloud, talking to yourself is the first sign of madness."
Oh hell. It had to be Leon, didn't it. "Exactly what did I say?"
"That you didn't think you were something or other, and you were starting to sound like Aerith."
Speaking of Aerith, she happened to choose just that moment to appear. Of course, I should have expected it from her.
"Hello Cloud, Leon. Not interrupting anything, am I?"
"No, only Cloud talking to himself." They laugh, and Leon leaves, saying something about a Keyblade master appearing.
"You should tell him, Cloud."
"Get lost."
"Seriously. You don't see it, but I've seen the way he looks at you. It's more than just friendship between you two."
"Not right now, it isn't."
"But it could be, if one of you would just take the first step."
………………
"Something bothering you, Aerith?" Yuffie always could tell when there was a problem.
"Leon and Cloud. They're being complete blind idiots and ignoring what's right in front of them."
"They're refusing to talk again?"
"Only to admit what they feel. Not like it's important or anything, but it might make them happy." Aerith sighed, and shook her head.
"Cloud's afraid to say anything because of Rinoa. Leon's just too damn stubborn."
"You're right, Yuffie."
………………
Leon backed out of the room quietly. He was certain he wasn't meant to have heard their conversation, but it did confirm that Cloud had feelings for him, which he'd been wondering. Now, he just had to do something about it.
