Written for the LJ community DMHGblitz - and won first place! YAY! This was a prompt challenge - 300 word drabble, with the following prompt: "Thomas Edison's last words were: "It's very beautiful over there." I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful." JK Rowling owns everything in the Harry Potter universe. I own nothing but the plot, which is sometimes lost. ;)

The battle raged, as most battles do, with thunderous booms and cracks of misfired spells upon immovable stone.
Two figures, each from opposite sides, huddled in a darkened alcove, wounded beyond mere healing charms.
Blond hair was muddied with blood and plastered to his forehead, his once fair, porcelain skin now fading to gray as he measured his breathing, watching the girl struggle with her own injury.
Propped next to his legs facing him, she tried to stem the flow of blood from her thigh, having tried every spell in her arsenal to knit the long gash that ran from pubic bone to knee.
"Do you think," he whispered, "there is a Muggle God, Granger?"
Unable to remain upright, she laid across his hip, her head resting against his stomach. "Yes… Malfoy, I do," she murmured, eyes drooping. "There are too… many wonderful… things in this… world not to."
"When you go… will you meet him?"
She pried her eyes open, gazing at him. "I hope so… they say it's very… beautiful there."
He shook her shoulder, trying to keep her awake. "Where is there?"
"Heaven… paradise… home."
Heaving a shuddering breath, Draco sunk further against the wall in agony. "I wonder if he'd let me come… to your Heaven."
"I wouldn't see… why not," she panted, clutching his blood-soaked shirt. "But… it's full… of Muggles."
His chuckle caused him to draw in gasping breaths until each one was a struggle. "`S okay… `Mione," he slurred, his grip loosening. "You'll… be… there."
There were several moments of silence before she rasped, "Are you… afraid?"
"Not… anymore."
Sometime later, after a break in the fighting, the two were found, curled against each other. On the stone wall next to Draco's head, written in blood, were the words, "It's beautiful over here."
