Reim has never thought that 'Emily' would outlast Xerx.
He's watched the Hatter repair the doll several times- twice he's taken on his friend's paperwork so Break would have time to rework her after some battle- but never has he thought that she would outlast Xerxes Break. It doesn't matter what sort of care an object recieves, it will always eventually be shattered, twisted, destroyed in the most merciless manner. (He's learned this quite well with his glasses.)
That doll, Break's Emily, one of the last reminders of the Mad Hatter. She even carries his scent- that of cocoa accented with a touch of vanilla. The scent of candy, but permeated with an underlying feeling of... bitterness? Lemon, perhaps?
The smiling doll's paint has been redone several times by a shaky hand and sometimes by Reim's own, somewhat steadier one. Xerx's fingers trembled so after long fights... It used to concern Reim, especially when he'd catch Break looking at his hands, moving the fingers experimentally, and wincing afterwards. The dress has obviously been repaired by those unsteady hands: the stitches are uneven, the thread colors vary, the seams don't match up. The cloth has been worn to pieces and patched carefully back together. The hair is also worn down, but tied back almost lovingly, and this is one thing Xerx has never failed to do perfectly.
Reim doesn't redo the bow after it falls away, but he keeps the ribbon.
