DETECTED WEAKNESS

Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. I only own the plot. This takes place in between "The Soul Stealer" and "A Cloud Of Hate Pt 1". This was written because of something I may write in a future story and I didn't want to have a plot hole.
Jason, Kimberly, Billy, Trini, Zack, Tommy, Rocky, Adam, and Aisha had been enjoying a typical day at the youth center when they heard a six-tone beep. Tensing, they stopped what they were doing and gathered together at the exit.
"We read you, Zordon. What's up?" Jason asked quietly.
"Report to the Command Center immediately," Zordon instructed and the ten teens went outside and after making sure that it was clear, they teleported.
"Zordon, what's going on?" Jason asked.
"Sensors have noted a steady decline of power on the moon base," Zordon told them gravely and the Rangers looked at each other in confusion. I don't get it. Why does he look so concerned? Zack wondered.
"But Zordon, if Rita and Zedd's powers are weakening, wouldn't that be a good thing?" Katherine queried.
"Not necessarily. If Rita and Zedd lose their standing on the moon, it would create a power vacuum that could have disastrous results," Billy answered.
"Yeah, like Scorpina or Goldar trying to take over," Kimberly added.
"Precisely," Billy agreed.
"Sensors indicate the waning power only has one signature source," Alpha told them.
"So who's losing power?" Tommy wondered.
"Though I am not certain, I believe it is Zedd," Zordon answered. The Rangers looked at each other.
"Who would try to take Zedd's powers?" Trini wondered.
"Rita," Tommy responded. "That must've been her plan all along. By getting married to him, she'd have access to him and could figure out a way to siphon off his powers," he continued.
"I'd imagine she wasn't real happy about being tossed aside," Zack commented.
"Who in the palace would help her?" Rocky asked.
"Goldar," Tommy spoke up again. "I remember him being very loyal to Rita, though I don't know why he switched over to Zedd when he first came on the scene," he continued.
"So, if she's destroying Zedd, that means-" Aisha started to say.
"She wants to world for herself," Rocky finished. Jason's eyes clouded. This was not good.
"This is information we possibly use to our advantage," Billy interjected.
"How?" the others asked.
"If they're infighting, it ought to be simple enough to merely confound their efforts for taking over Earth by perhaps convincing them that they are expendable to Zedd and Rita to cast further doubt on loyalty," Billy answered.
"You mean like if we tell Goldar and Scorpina that Rita views them as pawns, they may not trust her any more?" Kimberly asked.
"Precisely," Billy replied.
"Rangers, I would advise you not to meddle in whatever power struggle Rita is attempting to create. For if she and her minions are indeed trying to take Zedd's powers for herself, it may make one or both of them desperate enough to use their magic to wipe out the Earth instead of just sending down a monster to conquer it. If that were to happen, I cannot guarantee that you would survive," Zordon told them.
"Their magic is pretty strong," Tommy recalled quietly and Jason gave Tommy's shoulder a comforting squeeze as Kimberly took her boyfriend's hand.
"So basically you just told us this so that we would be aware and be on our guard?" Jason surmised.
"Yes. The danger may rise and you have a right to know," Zordon told them.
"We'll be careful, Zordon," the Rangers promised.
"May the Power continue to protect you," Zordon told them and they teleported out.
"Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi! I hope it's not a power struggle! The Rangers have a hard enough time battling Rita and Zedd's spells as it is."
"So do I, Alpha. So do I." With that, Zordon and Alpha turned to their sensors worriedly. Whatever was going on up on the moon, they would do their best to guard their Rangers.
