She watched him bait the UnSub, play him and enrage him to the point of shooting him. He wasn't afraid, not even for a moment that the UnSub might go for the kill shot, he wasn't afraid that the UnSub might kill their victim. He just wasn't afraid. How intriguing was that? At first she thought it was a total disassociation with everything around him, pain, fear, death.
At first she thought he was a man unable to feel anything… A little after when she saw him leaning over the young woman they just saved, stroking her hair and whispering softly that everything will be okay in the end and if she needed anything, anything at all she can call him and after that he slipped a small card in her hand, turned around and left the ambulance she saw, she saw and understood that maybe he didn't disassociated that much. That maybe he had a way, the whole charade she just watched maybe was his way of getting the job done. His way of making sure that the victim went home safe and that another life's blood wasn't on his hands.
He had a special way of dealing with everything, weather that was a hostage situation, the taking down of an UnSub or even his own feelings. Such a special way… such a unique way. She couldn't understand it, no one could… but it was his way, and so far it worked… it worked so well…
