#01 – Ring
"She said she'd ring," Kowalski lamented, pitifully staring at the telephone. "Why doesn't she call?"
Across the room Rico watched him sadly. He knew what it was like to be totally unnoticed by the one you love.
#02 – Hero
Skipper's decisive leadership won him praise… Kowalski's incredible intellect got him admiration… and Rico's sheer stubborn strength was often enough to save the day.
Private often wondered if he'd ever be a hero like his teammates.
#03 – Memory
If asked their earliest memory, all of them would probably respond with 'snow'.
If asked their best memory, for various reasons they'd probably all say 'snow cones'.
#04 – Box
Being trapped in a box for travel purposes is always somewhat awkward but it's a very good excuse for some unimpeachable cuddle time.
#05 – Run
It's this one whispered word from Hans, as he and Dr Blowhole are about to spring their trap, that makes Skipper re-evaluate their relationship.
"Run."
#06 – Hurricane
"Technically," Kowalski commented as they held on for dear life, "since we're in Australia it would be more accurate to call it a tropical cyclone rather than a hurricane."
Skipper very briefly considered letting go of his lieutenant.
#07 – Wings
Wings had many uses.
They were invaluable in swimming, lethal weapons for martial arts, comforting to teammates in distress, subtle in seducing a mate…
But each penguin at some point wished they could fly.
#08 – Cold
Rico with a cold was always a dangerous prospect. Who knew what he might shoot out with his next sneeze? And since sneezes travel at over 30 mph, even innocent candies became lethal weapons.
It didn't stop any of his teammates taking care of him though.
#09 – Red (Kico)
Rico recognised that painting was his way of venting his feelings. Anyone who knew the code could tell a lot from what colours he used.
Black for depression, red for passion, blue for sadness, green for contentment, orange for happiness.
His eye caught sight of Kowalski, leaning slightly on his desk, resting on his flippers for support.
Rico would need a lot of red for this one…
#10 – Drink
Private would always insist on proper English Breakfast tea.
Skipper was adamant about drinking his strong coffee brew.
Kowalski couldn't relax without a cup of camomile and honey.
It was well known however that Rico would drink anything in liquid form.
I'd like to thank The Golden City was giving me these prompts.
I intend to add to these periodically with other word related ideas, some of which will probably be longer and hopefully better.
