An Undying Memory
Years had past since that last time Chihiro had set foot inside that life changing bath house. She sat stairing mindlessly out of the window of her parents small family car finding different ways to cope with the fact she would never see the beloved Haku that had saved her life so many years before. Dealing with this realization had been hard throughout the years to the point she had started to decline in school due to behavior. Falling asleep, the wrong people, and the many opportunities of a young teenager remained as obstacles in her struggle to move on and succeed. Though no matter how hard she tried she could not rid herself of the memory of the bath house. No one person could ever bring to mind a word or book for that matter that would summarize the effect the time she had spent in the magical place had on her. The evil Ubaba and her loving sister, Haku, Lin, and the confused rampaging spirit remained vivid and very real in her mind. A sudden bump jarred Chihiro back to reality and back to a depressing state of realization. "Mom, Dad, do you think we will ever go back to the abandoned theme park and walk around again?'' In Chihiro's mind this seemed like a blatant and obvious attempt at gaining something she wanted hid from her parents but they took it as a simple and harmless request. "Sweetey, we arent going anywhere until you pull your grades up. We have discussed this many times." Her father spoke this in a calm and assertive manner from the wheel of the car. Chihiro knew this most likely meant that there was no chance of her parents getting her there, but there had to be another way. After a few more minutes of bumping down a dirt road they reached their home. It was two story painted blue with white shutters. The shingles on the roof had barely started to wear as the paint around the windows slowly pealed, nonetheless it was a very nice home. Chihiro raced inside and up the stairs to her room and hopped up onto her bed to ponder. " Another way into the bathhouse." She said aloud to herself in a sort of curious voice. Sleep over came her.
At close to midnight Chihiro awoke suddenly and quite frightened to a dull and rapid tap on her window. A figure with many arms it seems squirmed outside trying to keep straight on the angled shingles. Could it be? Chihiro's heart raced and her body began to tremble and she quickly stumbled across her messy room to the window, kicking and knocking over everything in her path. She opened the window and her heart soared with a new hope.
