1.To a hungry man, there is no bad bread.

This proverb literally means that if you are hungry enough, you'll eat anything. You won't care what it may taste like. This proverb applies as well to different life situations. For instance, a man with limited options or alternatives, due to poverty, would tend to cling on practically to anything just to survive, even if he is aware that at times such alternatives would be detrimental to him, however, due to poverty, he would just resort to some options especially if he has a family to raise. In the case of some criminals in our society, wherein some may have done crimes because they need to provide for their families although they have been aware that doing such are punishable by law.

2.One man's meat is another man's poison.

This proverb means that what you like may not be liked by

others. In terms of food choices, people tend to have varying tastes for food. Some may like some food that are despised by others maybe due to their culture, or may have develop allergies on the type of food or maybe they are not risk takers in terms of food choices. A classic example for this would be some food delicacies such as snail, frog, or beetle entrees where in some countries, natives enjoy them while in some cultures, these food entrees are simply disgusting. In other life situations, this proverb also applies to the diverse traits found in every human. Some opportunities may seem great for some people, however to some this may mean a disaster. Going to another country to work to earn big may be an amazing chance to some who may have little to leave behind. But to others who may have families back home, may see this opportunity as a dilemma because of family disintegration.

3.The early bird catches the worm.

This proverb teaches as about punctuality- being on time. In life, one must always be early in doing things, as no one ever succeeds in being late. In school, at times the teacher gives a pop quiz at the beginning of a lesson. If a student arrives late for the class, he practically misses the whole thing and does get a grade and if the tardiness habitual, the student eventually fails. In some cases, students

who have prepared in advance for examinations, most often than not, get high grades for their efforts.

4. A sparrow in the hand is better than a hawk in the air.

This proverb means that it is best to be happy with what you have. Do not expect too much out of something you know you might not get because if you do, your hopes will be dashed, leaving you more miserable than ever. This proverb also tells us not to be too ambitious in life. A man should be aware of his capabilities and should know his limitations in life. If he pursues something far from his reach, for instance, he is a poor man and is a lazy person, however, he dreams to be rich someday. Would he be able to reach his dream if he is lazy ? ( eliminating the option of winning the lottery!)

4. This proverb means that you should always be happy with what you have. If you hope too much for something beyond your reach, you'll end up with your dreams dashed and more miserable than ever.

5. This proverb means that giving others problems will get you into much bigger problems. It's just like the golden rule: Don't do to others what you don't want others to do to you.
