The waitress just would not stop flirting with him. It was really getting annoying. When he stepped outside to make a phone call, she said to Dani, "Wow, so your friend, he's gorgeous. I love older men, especially tall, dark, and handsome ones."

Dani could have been irritated that this girl was so clueless, but she decided to have some fun instead. "Yeah, and he knows it. You know that gorgeous head of hair?"

The waitress nodded, fascinated.

"It's all a wig."

The girl gasped. "I would NEVER have known."

"Yeah, it's really good work, isn't it?" Dani said confidentially. "And did you notice how he's kind of the strong, silent type?"

She said, "Yes."

Dani lowered her voice to make sure that she wasn't being overheard. "Botox. He can barely move his face."

The waitress sighed. "The best-looking ones really are the vainest, I guess."

Dani smiled ruefully. "Tell me about it. But he does look good for his age, even if he has had help."

The girl looked at her with horror. "How old is he, exactly?"

Dani stage-whispered, "Seventy-two."

"Wow. He looks amazing. I thought he was much younger."

They heard a cough behind them and turned to see Nico. The waitress looked embarrassed. Dani smirked. Nico sat down, but remained stone-faced.

The waitress said, loudly, to Dani, "Well, I'll bring you that check!"

Dani turned her face away from Nico and said to the waitress, "Don't worry, honey. He couldn't hear us. Deaf as a post."

The waitress smiled sympathetically. "My grandpa is like that, too. He won't wear his hearing aid."

She walked off to get the check.

He said, "Someday, somehow, I'm going to make you pay for this."

She laughed. "Good luck with that."

He said, "Trust me."

He was silent for a second, then stared at his reflection in the window for a second. "Do you really think this looks like a wig?" He looked slightly worried.

She smirked. "Not to me."
