Home

Seeing her sleeping, made him think of everything they had been through. He had watched over her, protected her, and listened to her. Never once did he tell her not to do something. He believed that it wasn't his place. And well it wasn't, she had no reason to be told what to do or where to go. The only thing he could do was tell her what he thought and what she needed to hear, and he knew that his words hurt her. He knew that they stung and sometimes dug painfully. But he also knew that his words, made her laugh, made her smile, and made her stronger.

Reaching out tentatively he touched her cheek, pushing some hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. He gently moved his fingers down the side of her face, and onto her shoulder and down her arm that was snugly tucked. against her chest. "You are so beautiful." He murmured softly, his red eyes took in everything about her. He looked at her lips, and smiled. She was drooling a little bit, he reached out and gently wiped the drool away. "Messy." He breathed. Yawning, he relaxed deeply into the bed and watched her a little longer. His mind wander a little bit, as he lied beside her. He thought about the day he walked in through her small diner. She had been sitting at the table with a reporter. He knew it was her right away. After all, how could he forget Wendy. She didn't change all that much, at least not that he could tell at first glance. She still had the braided pigtails, the lovely and modest outfit, there were subtle changes. From the bow around her neck, the thickness of her hair and the length of it. She had grown into a lovely women.

He had stayed with her for some time, working for her at the small diner, he would do some maintenance and got rid of rowdy customers. He had one day, decided that he had overstayed his welcome with her and went to leave one morning. He had made it just outside of Evergreen, when he heard her yelling his name, he had turned expecting to see her there, only to find her running after him, he had thought at first that he had forgotten something. But he had been wrong, Wendy, had handed him a key. When he had asked what it was for, she had told him that it was a key to the house. She had told him so softly "Come back home in one piece okay, I have been working on some recipes for you to try."

Van, had never expected her to do anything like this. Never had he thought really anyone but Elena would do something like this for him. When he took the key from her hand, he really couldn't help himself at this point. He had grabbed her hand, pulling her to him and hugged her close to his chest. "Can I come home..." He asked her, he had found something in Wendy, he had found a home with her. She gave him something he never had. A home and a family. Wendy had become an important person in his life. To him, she home.

Waking up a few hours later, he mumbled under his breath as the light hit is eyes, he pulled his arm over his eyes to shield him from the light. He heard soft laughter and he peeked up from his arm to see Wendy looking at him with amusement. "Morning Van." She whispered softly. Her hair was a little bit of a mess from sleeping.

Van smiled at her slightly. "Morning Wendy." Yeah, this was home.
