I have exams this week and a field trip next week end. I'm supposed to be studying but this plot bunny keeps on jumping in my head.
I don't own NCIS but I hope you'll like this...
She can't sleep. She can't remember when she fell asleep soundly with the man beside her. During these past few weeks, something was constantly bugging her and waking her. It was like she was waiting for it to happen again.
She tried to fall asleep again and recalled the days when they're both happy. They were walking down the streets hand in hand and they wouldn't worry about what everybody thinks of them. Sometimes they share a few kisses in public and they do not care about the public display of affection. They are a married couple and that's what the people see when they saw them.
They were happy during the day but at night, a constant nightmare pulls her out of her slumber.
As if on cue, it started again.
He was having a nightmare again.
The beads of cold sweat came out of his skin endlessly. His body was twitching and turning and until now she didn't know what to do. She tried to stop his actions by putting her hands on his chest. He found her body and embraced her tightly as if she was his lifeline. She was calling his name. She was telling him to wake up but her soft alto voice only made it harder for him to wake up.
He was grunting and murmuring and begging for her not to leave.
"Jenny… don't leave…" his very soft passionate voice was begging her and it breaks her heart to see him like this. "Please Jen… don't leave… don't leave me…"
The tears in her eyes flow on her cheeks as she held him.
Her name echoes in the room and his voice cracks every time that he calls her.
This was the worst nightmare that she had seen during their marriage. This was the first time that he called her name.
Her grip loosen as she murmured, "I'm here, Jethro." She wants him to believe that she was there for him.
She wants him to stop having these nightmares… because she is here…
She is here for him.
She vowed that for better or for worse she'd be there for him.
His nightmare slowly faded and she can see the hurt, anger, loneliness and maybe his broken heart when he opened his glassy ocean blue eyes.
He found himself tightly embracing her so he loosened up a bit. It seemed that he didn't remember the nightmare that he had earlier. His face was soft and sincere when he said, "I didn't mean to wake you."
She nodded. She understood. She was his only wife who was always understanding and forgiving.
He gave her a ghost of a smile and laid his head back to the crook of her neck.
Her hand combed his silver-gray hair while the other rubbed his back.
She watched him sleep. He looked peaceful now.
When she thought that he was deep in his slumber, she murmured.
"I hope you didn't mean to hurt me too, Jethro. I'm sorry… I'm not her."
Another tear left her eye as Stephanie wondered how long she could keep up with this.
That's the reason why I couldn't study… Oh please wish me luck! NCIS is sooo tempting...
