Through the Dark

Have travelled through the empty darkness,

Have travelled oh so far.

Have gone beyond our galaxy,

Beyond the reach of stars.

Beyond the threads of memory,

Beyond long forgotten days.

Beyond the touch of lives long gone,

Beyond sunlight's faintest rays.

Beyond echoes of the screams, the fire,

Beyond Death's hand that sought to reach.

Here within the depths of space,

In entropy's cold sleep.

Set out in days of desperation,

An exodus, an ark.

Left to find our destination,

Through the roaring dark.

Beyond these days, beyond those times,

The ship has sailed deep.

As its denizens all slumber,

In night's eternal sleep.

But finally, a sound, a light,

A message rings out clear.

Simple words to pierce the dark,

"Andromeda draws near."

A/N

So, yeah, my guess is that Andromeda stems from the events of Mass Effect 3 - a kind of ark project in the event that the Reapers succeeded in wiping out all advanced life in the galaxy again. After all, it's been stated to take place long after the events of the original trilogy, which would fit in with the required travel time. Granted, that Shepard is heard effectively sending them off in one of the trailers puts a hole in this theory, but, well, time will tell I guess.
