Steven universe fanfiction
Black eyes open for the first time, looking up at the surrounding area of one of blue diamond's colonies.
"Welcome. Onyx Facet-F3L8 Cut-7X1." said a nearby peridot whose gem was located on her upper right arm, unlike his which was embedded in his throat. "Report yourself to Blue Diamond at once."
Obediently the Onyx saluted his peridot and took off to see his diamond.

He traversed to the platform and approached the blue palaquin of his diamond. He looked up at her gigantic form, her eyes concealed by a cowl and her gem on her chest. Though slightly intimidated by her size, he saluted her to show his loyalty.
"G-greetings, my diamond." he said, "I am pleased to be in your glorious presence. Onyx Facet-F3L8 Cut-7X1 at your service."
"Odd." said Blue, "It has been a while since we've last had an onyx in one of our courts."
She continued to speak while Onyx continued to stand in salute before his diamond, when his eyes began to wander to a small, slender form that stood upon one of the armchairs of the palanquin throne, typing on a holoscreen that contained a list of gem placements. He recognized it to be a pearl. A blue pearl whose eyes were concealed by her bangs, a veil hung around her waist, and her gem in the same location on her chest like her diamond's gem.
He took in the pearl's lovely and graceful form and felt a warm sensation wash over his face as well as a feeling of slight admiration as he began to blush.
"Are you listening?" Blue suddenly spoke, making Onyx jump.
"Y-yes my diamond!" he said in slight embarrassment, a bead of sweat forming on his temple. Blue gave him a disbelieving look before continuing.
"As I was saying," she said, "you shall be in attendance with the other onyxes, however seeing as you have just recently emerged I shall have you assigned to one of my best trainers. She will be looking after you and keeping track of your efforts." Suddenly a quartz guard appeared next to Onyx also saluting to her diamond.
"Take him to moonstone." said blue diamond.
"Yes my diamond." said the quartz before delivering a slap to Onyx's back. "Let's go newbie."
Onyx glared at the quartz in disapproval before following her, not before looking back once at Blue's pearl and smiled.

Meanwhile on earth, Pink diamond's colony.
The beta Kindergarten overflowed with new quartz soldiers from jaspers to carnelians to amethysts, though many of them weren't exactly perfect. They all greeted each other like old friends, usually with a friendly nudge or pat on the back.
Little do they know that one gem among them wasn't like the rest. Close by an orange colored gem with long, glimmering, hair emerges perfectly from a nearby extraction area. Everyone turned and stared at her in surprise, whispering to each other, this was clearly not a quartz gem. "What's going on? Out of the way! Coming through!" A fuscia pink agate kindergartener, her gem located on her shoulder like a general's medal, took notice of the commotion and pushed her way through the newly developed quartzes to see what was going on, nothing would've prepared her for what she was about to witness.
She looked down at the new gem, staring in disbelief at first before grabbing her shoulder and jerked her around, finding her gem on the tip of her spine under her long hair.
The agate was overcome with shock at the revelation before summoning a pink holoscreen with an image of the earth and the kindergartens listed on it, "H-how could this be?" she said, distressed. "Th-there shouldn't be any opals around here much less fire opals! Oh, the diamonds are gonna flip! I could lose my rank for this! I'm going to need to contact Pink diamond at once!"
She magically produced a device from her gem which glowed and from it emitted a larger pink holoscreen, from it they saw the image of Pink diamond who hadn't seem to have noticed.
"My diamond." Fuscia pink Agate spoke. Pink diamond jumped at her voice and turned to the screen
"Huh? Oh! uh... I... wasn't expecting any calls." she said to her subjects. "Uh... hi."
The agate and all the quartz gems who had gathered saluted to her while fire opal just stood there staring. A large Jasper standing next to her, whose gem was where her nose should be, took notice of this and nudged fire opal with her elbow before gesturing to pink. Fire opal understood right away and saluted too, slightly embarrassed yet elated to meet her diamond for the first time.
"My diamond," agate continued, "we appear to have a slight... situation on our hands." she gestured fire opal to approach. The opal obeyed and rushed forward, holding her pink Agate continued, "This may be unexpected, but somehow during excavation in the beta kindergarten this fire opal had emerged somehow. With your permission I wish to have her brought to Homeworld at once."
Fuscia agate directed the screen to Fire opal. Pink Diamond gazed at her in amazement, she had only ever heard about the fire opals on homeworld but never having the chance to actually see them. To have one in her court made on her colony made Pink feel so ecstatic. Fire Opal looked up at the excited look on her diamond's face, which sported a wide, excited grin. she smiled back and delivered a friendly wave which was halted by the jasper who shook her head in disapproval before they went back to their salute.
"Um... my diamond?" said Fuscia, taking back the screen and bringing pink back to reality. "I hate to repeat myself, but with your permission shall I escort this opal to homeworld so that she'll be accompanied to Yellow diamond's court?"
"No!" Pink said abruptly, "No... um... just... keep her on earth for now. Place her under someone's care if you can. Whatever you do don't tell Blue or Yellow alright?"
"B-but my diamond-!"
"As your diamond I request you keep this to yourself. That goes double for the rest of the gems on earth. Do this for me please?"
Pink diamond pleaded with the agate. Fuscia didn't like this request, knowing that if yellow or blue diamond found out they'll be furious. But she was made for Pink and it was her duty to follow Pink's instructions and do as she was told.
With a heavy, defeated sigh, Fuscia spoke. "V-very well my diamond. I'll put her under the care of one of our best quartz soldiers for now and at least train her to maintain control over her capabilities."
"Oh thank you!" said Pink before diverting her attention to the opal. "Fire opal, You're gonna do great things I just know it! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Fire opal smiled at this notion. Fuscia pink agate gave the opal a begrudging look, "Yes well, Fuscia pink agate out." the screen vanished, before she turned to the new gem.
"Alright now," said Fuscia, "Since our diamond has requested your secrecy. You'll be place under the supervision of a quartz soldier, you!" she pointed to the large Jasper with the gem on her nose. "I'm placing her in your custody for the time being. If anything happens it will be both of our gems on the line. You got that? Teach her how to have control over her powers and capabilities. make no mistakes. You hear?"
Jasper looked from the agate to the opal, though reluctant at first, hopefully this way she'll be able to gain some points with her diamond.
"Yes, Fuscia pink agate." she saluted with a sigh.
"And you." Fuscia returned her attention to Fire opal. "I expect you to perfect your abilities in the name of our diamond. understood?"
Fire opal gave a salute and a friendly grin.
"Yes ma'am." she finally said.
Fuscia grimaced at her before she and everyone else disbanded leaving Fire opal and Jasper together.
The larger gem glowered at fire opal enviously. "Listen here runt," she said to her in a rough tone, "As of now we'll be working together." She poked Opal in the chest. "But don't think I'm gonna go easy on you just because my diamond is giving you special treatment. Got that?"
Fire opal looked up at her and just smiled before delivering a playful boop on Jasper's nose. "Loud and clear." she giggled. Jasper just huffed in exasperation at her new partner.
