Farewell

Farewell

"Please…Please don't go."

"I love you!"

"Don't go! Or I'll scream!"

"Sakura…Arigatou."

With a quick movement Sasuke knocked Sakura out.

He caught her, right before she hit the ground.

For a moment he pressed her against himself and buried his face in her hair.

Inhaled her sweet smell.

Cherries…fitting her name.

Then he laid her carefully down onto the stone bench beside himself.

He looked at her soft features.

Memorized everything very carefully.

Traced the contour of her face.

Carefully he caressed her cheeks, the closed eyelids behind which deep green eyes were hidden, her lips with his finger.

He hesitated a moment.

Then he leaned down, slowly, hesitant.

Gently his lips touched hers.

They felt exactly as soft as they looked.

A wave of emotions befell him.

The friendly feelings for Sakura, which he always talked himself into, disappeared.

On its place now were love and affection.

Pain and grief, because he couldn't make her happy, because he had to leave her.

After a few seconds he separated gently from her.

Quietly he whispered

"I can't make you happy. Somebody else has to do it."

A lonely tear felt out of the corner of his eye, when he straightened up, and with one last look at the face he loved more than anything else, he turned around.

He left the village.

He left her.

The only thing he left behind was the kiss on her lips.

The first and only kiss between them.

The kiss she wouldn't remember when she woke up.

And his tear.

The tear he cried for her.

It landed exactly on her right eye from where it now make its way to the outermost edge of the eye and run down her cheek.

It looked like she cried for him too.
